Re: LUDY Family FROM Royalton Twp, Berrien Co, MICH

My Grandfather was Lenard Ludy (he was put in an orphange after his mother, Anna left and adopted by the Fischer family in Michigan.) My father, Don Fischer, has a copy of the divorce papers from Omar and Anna's divorce. According to what my Dad was told all of the children were put in the orphanage. I know Isabelle as an adult is in California, I believe Harry was in Ohio. I have never met these families but my cousins have photos and correspondence. My dad had 1 brother and 3 sisters. All but one sister has passed away. My grandfather married Helen Woods from Possum Holler,MO when she was 14 or 15 years old. They lived mostly in Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. If this is any help let me know, I am defineately interested in more information. All the names regarding the Ludy's are very familiar due to what great storytellers have passed thru each generation. My Dad has brought up stories regarding Harry, Marie Ludy, Lester Ludy. Opal, June, and more.

I am also researching the Ludy family in Philadelphia. My great-grandmother was Elizabeth Ludy Haas, b. 11/21/1848 in Bavaria, d. 10/21/1910 in Philadelphia. Her father was Peter Ludy, but I do not have any further information on him.

Yes- this is my great grandmother! You are a godsend! Pretty much all I know of my grandfather's family, is that his mother's name was Marie, and that he had numerous brothers and sisters, one of which's name was Opal. I believe most of her children were placed for adoption. I know he also had a sister born in 6/1928 named June, who was put up for adoption. And somehow- my grandfathers name was switched from Lee Lester Ludy to Lee Leslie Crawford- I can only assume, that he was adopted out as well...

Were you able to get any good info about the Bethshan home???

In doing research on the Bethshan Home I came across the query about Marie Ludy. Intrigued, I did a search in the 1920 census and found a Mrs. Marie Ludy, age 21, a widow, living in South Pikesville, Pike County, Kentucky. She is listed as the daughter of the head of the household. John Rich. WIth Marie is her 10 month old daughter Opal. Just wondered whether this is the same Marie Ludy who was a patient in the Bethshan Home in 1930.

I am looking for any information on my great-grandmother, Marie Ludy. The only thing I've found so far, was that she resided in a home for unwed mothers, called the Bethshan Home, in Canton, Ohio, during the 1930 census. She had my grandfather, Lee Lester Ludy, a daughter named Odessa, and another son named Victor. Anyone who has any information, please email me at Doobee1274@aol.com.
Thank you!

Ludy Family in Germany and First Generation in America

Seeking information on the Ludy Family in Germany (1650-1765)
and the first Generation in America (1765-1800). This family is believed to have come from Thaleischweiler, Germany in 1765 and landed in Philadelphia, PA. They appeared to have lived in PA for about 10 years and then moved to Frederick County, MD. The American immigrant appears to be Nicklaus and his wife, Elizabeth Gross. They had eleven children of which the first three were born in Germany. I have information on three of their children: David, Nicholas, and Henry. I need information on the other children which are reported to be: Phillip Jacob, Nicholas Peter, Jacob Peter, Johannes, Susannah, Mary, Christopher and Daniel. Does anyone have any information on these children as well as the family history in Germany?
