Most of our Luedkes were in Chatham, IL; however, we did have some that moved to Wisconsin and then to who knows where. Some of them were also in Missouri. Our Luedkes were from the Posen area in Germany and came to this country from 1870 - the 1880's. Would any of these be in your line. We have a Robert Luedke that was baptized at the Lutheran church in Chatham.

Hello, I'm not sure if we are talking about the same use of the word dna...I had my male cousin (LUEDKE) dna done at a place called Family Tree DNA and first had only 12 markers done and I received a boat load of matches .....then I had all of them done and the only person that matched 25 exactly was one fellow and his name is not the same as mine nor the location of our relatives is even remotely close ...

Once you have the results you can enter them in a place called Ysearch and see if any one else matches you. I have a long way to go to understand all of this yet.

They are German and he has a lot of his family history. I would like to know what the gentleman you spoke abouts DNA is. I think DNA is a great way to go. Hoping to hear from you.
Cindy. I understand that you're working on your mom's side of the family history. I've been working on my dad's side of the family, the Luedtkes, off and on for about 15 years and now that I'm retired I've got the time to finish it up. I've got the first part of the family nailed down except for the 3rd child that accompanied Johann and Frederica from Prussia. A lot of work to be done yet on the Friedrich side but the August side is moving along well. Have gotten a lot of info from church records in Lomira, Fond du Lac and West Bend. I'm finishing up on the current generation. Would like to share with you. email: dluedtke8@wi.rr.com and tel: 414-427-0391.

I never realized how huge the Luedke family name was. My father was a very private man and did not really speak of his family. All I know is that my grandparents (Julius and Irene) died before I was born in 1965. I know that they also had 9 children, but 4 died at very early ages. The survivors were James, Robert, Edward and Dorothy as well as my father Julius. My mom and dad had 4 children 3 boys and myself. I am sure that we must all be related in one way or another. This is so facinating but in the same aspect so strange to know that there are more of us out there...

Just reread your message and I thought this might intrest you, I had my cousin (Male LUDKE/ LUEDKE DNA) give me a sample and we sent it in....and the only one to match on all 24 points was a guy who's family is originally from portugal and then Barzil and now lives in the states, so one of our German ancestors must have liked traveling a lot.

I was raised by my grandparents (Luedke) and 4 Luedke brothers lived about 3 bocks from the other(Luedkes) back in Sheboygan, Wisconsin the 50's but they never visited. My grandpas brothers owned a grocery store and they didn't even shop there. I went there when I was little and they were very friendly once they found out who I was.

I think we are all going to solve this with DNA testing I don't know how else we are going to figure it out.
