Dear FDennis - Thank you for writing this reply. Sadly, my friend from Enid has also passed away. It sounds as if both you and he benefited very much from knowing Miss Luikart. (His name was Michael York -- a musician - a strange, creative, quirkily brilliant fellow. The odds are great that you didn't know him.)

Marie was also my teacher at Longfellow in Enid. Marie remained a life long friend. Miss Luikart passed away in 1998. She was a remarkable teacher and friend.

LUIKART Arthur F. 1921-2011 Ohio

HAYESVILLE: Arthur Frederick Luikart, 89, of rural Hayesville, Ohio (Ashland County) died Sunday July 31, 2011 at his residence.

He was born October 30, 1921 in Monroe County, Ohio, the son of Herman and Alma Winkler Luikart.

He served in the United States Army in the 104th Infantry, also known as the Timber Wolves, during World War II, and was awarded a Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

Art worked at Tappan in Mansfield, Ohio for many years, and was a member of Stone Lutheran Church.
His passion was playing softball. Art pitched for several different teams in the area until he was 65.

He is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Timothy (Susie) Luikart of Sebring, Ohio, Randy of Ashland, Ohio and Matt (Jody) Luikart of Ashland; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan (Ray) Anderson of Delaware, Ohio; 12 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, three brothers, Melvin of Jeromesville, Wallace of Utah, and Homer of Arizona; and one sister, Rosella Mottayaw of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia Cubbage Luikart on September 12, 2007; and two sisters, Twila and Verna.

Services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville, OH with Pastor David Sanders officiating.
Burial will be in Vermillion Cemetery in Hayesville. Friends may call Tuesday, August 2, 2011 from 6 - 9 pm at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Drive, Ashland, Ohio 44805. Online condolences may be made at www.fickesfuneralhome.com.

I am looking for info or connection on an Elizebeth "Mary"
Lucart,or Luikart (1830-1899). Elizebeth is from Hesse-Cassel, Prussia(Germany) and married a Johann or John Horning and moved to northern Ohio in 1850's. Settling in Amhesrt, Ohio outside of Cleveland. If anyone has photos, connection, or info. Email me at Horningjohn@comcast.net

My great-great-great grandfather John Ulrich Luikart Was born in Zurich Switzerland on 1-20-1808, and died on 12-14-1891 in Red House West Virgina.

My father Clarence Albert Luikart (AKA George Luikart) was born on 7-9-1937 in Red House, West Virgina.

What information do you have on my great-great-great grandfathers family.

Hi -
My name is Ashley Pope. My brother's nameis Richard Rhea. Mom's (only child) name is Fan Rhea Lucy, daughter of Marjorie Fain Luikart (only child) daughter of Lillian May Luikart ( who I am pretty sure had a slew of brothers and sisters - Elizabeth and Cordellia are names I remember hearing). Her parents were Ann Marie Kistler and Gottlieb Agustus Luikart ( Nebraska). Whew! I think I have most of this correct. I would be interested in ANY thing you have about the Luikarts. Where does Schorndorf in Germany fit in? Or does it? Any information on Anne Marie Kistlers' descendents?
