FLOYD LUJAN MAY 21, 1948 ~ MARCH 4, 2013 Floyd Lujan, artist, award winning musician and teacher departed this Earth March 4th with his canine companion and "best friend" Bandit watching over him. Floyd was a native of Las Vegas, New Mexico where he attended school through part of his senior year having moved to Taos, New Mexico where he graduated in 1966. He joined the Navy and served in Vietnam before returning to Las Vegas where he received his Masters in Fine Arts from Highlands University. He was the founder of the art program at the United World College. He taught school in New Mexico and California. He loved his students and was an exceptional teacher. He was the founder of El Trio del Norte in Las Vegas and was a dj with a Las Vegas radio station. Floyd is survived by his four children; Denise, Ysela, Gabriel and Daniel. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters; Pauline, Mary Jane, Philip, Ruben, Pricilla, Tim, David, his Aunt Margo; three grandchildren; and many cousins, nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his Mother, Ida Lujan, Brother Joe and Sister Bernadette, Step-father Ben Romero, and grandparents Vicente Lujan and Guillerma Williams Lujan. Floyd waged a valiant fight against PTSD and kept moving forward towards success. He will be missed by his many friends and family. He was cremated and interment has taken place at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe.
