Re: lukac / marusak surname

The 1920 census shows them living at 350 Ravine Street in Munhall. Michael is 30; his date of immigration is shown as 1899. Anna is 22 (born about 1898), date of immigration is shown as 1913.

I'm not sure, but it's possible this is her record -- as transcribed -- at Ellis Island:

MARUSCSAK Anna, from Hungary, ethnicity: Ruthe; last place of residence: Alsoslova, Hungary; date of arrival: May 12, 1914; age 16, female, single; ship: Kronprinzessin Cecilie; port Bremen -- She is on line 26 of the manifest, according to her passenger record, but is not shown on the original manifest of the ship. I can't verify information or find a village called Alsoslova.
------------------
Mike Lukacs' World War I Draft Registration card (transcribed under the name Mike LUKATCH at ancestry.com)

Mike Lukatch, 420 Ravine Street, Munhall, PA, 29, born Dec. -- 1887, (birth place appears to be) Yicor -- Hungary. His signature appears to be Mike Lukacs.

It is possible the place of birth is Upor, Hungary which was in Zemplen Megye -- today in Slovakia.

Hope this helps, I'm researching another family connected to your Lukac line. Good luck. Mary
Re: Mary Lukac

Hello. My g-grandmother was Elizabeth Lukac b: 1865 who was married to John Sproch. She is buried at St. Rose's cemetary too, although, we believe it to be in Snydertown, PA which is right next to or part of Bradenville. I'm thinking this is the same cemetary and perhaps Elizabeth and Mary were sister -in -laws or sisters? Elizabeth came from Austria/Hungary and had 12 children. Does any of this match your information or sound familiar?

Re: Michal Lukac - Czech.

Hi,
I'm actually looking for information on my grandmother, Pauline Lukac, who was born on a ship coming over from Czechoslovakia. Her dad's name was John and her mother was Julia Anna Lukac. They did have a cousin named Michael but I'm sure that is pretty common. Also, they migrated to Union Town, PA after they got to America.

I was wondering if you could tell me how you started your search for someone who lives in Czechoslovakia? I am trying to find out some family history on my grandmothers family prior to them coming to the states, but I don't even know where to begin.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

JoAnn Knowles
