Are you the person who sent info in the mail last fall? Sorry, I have been ill and lost your address. I have been searching for my Lukas's for years. I have found their immigration info and all of their names, but could not find any trace after 1910. My Franziska(Fannie) always lived next door to them, they moved to Missouri in 1920 and I could never find her parents. I also have a Veronika. I found in a book that they came from Ostrv Zdar.

The Lukas's you are inquiring about are my family. My Grandfather was John H. Lukas (b.1872 d. 1949). His father was John Lukas (b. 1825 or 1836 d. 1923) and mother was Marie (or Mary) Kolouskova (b. 1841 d. 1932). Their other children were Anna (b. 1866 d. 1897), Joseph P. (b. 1868 d. 1942) and Mary (b. 1878) This family moved to Nebraska in the 1880s. I do know that Joseph's family moved to Cheyenne County and are buried in the Sidney cemetery.
It sounds like the family you are writing about. Maybe we could exchange more information.

Hi -
Is the surname perhaps Lithuanian??
My family immigrated from Lithuania around 1890-1900 to Scotland. They changed the family name to help settle in Scotland - I am currently trying to track down the original family name. Apparently our original family name, had Lucas (Or Lukas) in it and was shortened down to look more British (or less Lithuanian).

Thank you for replying. YES the dates match up. I spoke to my dad yesterday, and he did say that he does have a brother in California. My dad stated that there are 6 brothers and 4 sisters. He also stated that he thinks his brother lived on Line Ave in or near Long Beach? He did state that he met up with his brother sometime in the 60's but unfortunately they parted and he has not spoken or seen him since. I would love to reunite them again. My dad sounded quite excited on the phone when I spoke to him. I would love to send you some pictures and details. Can you email me at my home email address squirell@shaw.ca so I can provide further information. Look forward to hearing from you.
Hi! I just saw that you were looking for someone with a family member named Leopold. My fiancee's family name is Lukas and they stem from Austria. My fiancee's father is Augustus Lukas and he's about 76 yrs old. Augustus left home in his teens and spend time in Australia and then made his way to California. He has told us about a brother that lives in Canada and I believe his name to be Leopold. ( I will have to double check later today). Do the ages match up?

Lucas's Nebraska 1880's

I am searching for family members of the John(Joseph) and Mary(Marie?) family found in the Nebraska census in Oak Creek, Webster and later in the Colton Precinct of Cheyenne Cty. the census listed John(1839), Mary(1841), John(1872), Joseph(1868), Anne(1866), Mary(1878). Young Mary married my Fred Gundel and I found her parents in Barry Cty., Mo. in 1910. I think I have found the family in the immigration records, but there are a few more girls than I found later. The Neb. census they stated they were from Moravia. In the MO> census, they said Bohemia.

I have been working on the John Lucas family. I found them in the Nebraska 1885 census with their family, In 1910, they were in Mo. without their family. My ancestor lived their with her husband. I found the Lukas family on the immigration sheets yeaterday. they had Anna, Francisca, Joseph, Jvan, Marie, and Veronica. I am not sure if our families are the same. The Nebraska census said they were from Moravia. The next census said Bohemia and that they spoke Bohemian, while my grandfather spoke German.

As far as I know Joseph came to the US in the 1920's through Ellis Island. The family, I believe are mostly in the Clevland Ohio area. I think that Joseph died in Ohio. does any of this match your family?
My fathers family immigrated from Prague in the early 1920's to the Clevland Ohio area. My great grandfather was named Joseph Lukas(could have been a longer name prior). His son's name was Edward Lukas who married Mildred Braun. Any info could help trace back to where they came from. I do have immigration records like the ship Joseph came over on. Does this match anyone's family?

Searching for sibblings of Jonas and Maria Lukacs/Lukas,(Lucas) who came from Medgyes, Hungary. Jonas/John came in 1905, and Maria came in 1907. They came through Ellis Island, New York, and settled in Alliance, Ohio. Jonas was married to Regina Neckel while in Hungary and she came later in 1905 with her two year old son Michael. The only living son, who lives in Alliance, Ohio, seemed to think, Jonas and Maria had a brother, who settled in California. Jonas was born about 1881, and Maria was born about 1889.
