Hi, trying to find some information regarding a Jozef Lukasiewicz (shortened to Lucas in 1960's) whom came to England from Poland with Lena (who was Russian) and married in Halifax, West Yorks.

They had one son, Edward but very little is known regarding Jozef and his origins in Poland and how he came to meet Lena (Helena) and the circumstances surrounding their fleeing to the UK.

If anyone has any information then this would be greatly helpful.

Lukasiewicz in New York

Hi,

I see all these other Lukasiewicz's from PA, and it looks like my line are "aliens" or something. My great-great grandmother, Josefa Lukasiewicz (b. 9-6-1896 in Poland), m. Bronislaw Komorowski, Sr., had seven children, then immigrated to Rochester, New York. Josefa, from what I have recently found, was the daughter of Valentine Lukasiewicz and Kahterin Staefanik. She also had a sister, Victoria, who m. Thomas Orczyk and also went to Rochester, NY; and a brother, John Lukasiewicz, Sr., who m. Marcyanna Wawrzyniak, and also went to Rochester. I have not really looked into it now, but it looks as if most of the descendants keep Lukasiewicz instead of Lukas or Lucas. Does anybody have further information on how these Lukasiewicz's are related to the rest of the immigrated Lukasiewicz's? Or is anybody related to these mentioned Lukasiewicz's and have any additional information? The source for most of these brothers/sisters/relations is a little dated, and is not very helpful birthdate/deathdate speaking. Any help would be appreciated. E-mail me at brendonb@vt.edu.

Brendon

Thank you for your reply.

Your right, Karalun is a hard name to research.

I believe I have seen it spelled both ways also, Karalun and Carlon.

However, my great grandmother's marriage was arranged, she came over from Lithuania and did not know my great-grandfather Lukasiewicz. They go by Luke and Lucas also.

I am not aware of any members of her family coming over, but Lithuania is a small place, now, anyway.

Also, she was of gypsy origin.

Gypsies are originally from India

Kerala, or Karala, is a wonderful state on the South west coast of India.

Karalun, could mean a person from Kerala. But I can't be sure. All I know is I can't find the origin of this surname anywhere.

It sure is a long way from Schenectady!

I was born in Schenectady, but I now reside in Hollywood, CA.

You are the only person I have heard from about this surname, so thank you.

Susan Fischer
alb1022@hotmail.com
My husband is a Karalun and his grandfather Alexander Karalun was born in Schenectady, NY August 7, 1904 & died Aug 1967. I'm not sure of the year but he moved to the Pittsfield, MA area but he married Genevieve Siara in 1937 in Adams, MA. He had two children, James & Joyce.

His father Stanislov "Stanley" Carlon is the farthest we go back. For some unknown reason he changed the spelling of Karalun to Carlon. Three of his sons use the Karalun spelling, while Steve still uses Carlon. We don't know much information other than that on the family, except Stanislov was born in Europe, possible Lithuania or Poland.

I hope we can find some sort of tie in since Karalun is not a common name.

Debbie

She was born in Scranton Pennsylvania to Antony Lukasiewicz, a coal miner, and Petronella (Karalun), both immigrants from Lithuania. They moved to upstate New York (Schenectady). I have the names of their parents and the villages in Lithania.

They had nine children.

Am researching my wifes family. Her grandfather
was born in the Blossburg,Pa. area. The name
was changed somewhere along the line but at
this time we donot know when or where. I just
recived information from the Catholic church
in Blossburg that they have a record of a
Franciscum Lukasiewicz. The date of birth is
constitant with the other information we have
Do you think there is a connection.

The information I have is not much but here it is. Walenti Lukasiewicz was born in Poland. He came to the U.S. before 1860. His wife Julinna Szymarzak also came from Poland. There were 3 sons and one daughter. Francis was my wifes grandfather. There was Mary Patsy and Joe.Francis was born in Blossburg Pa on July 17,1882. Mary,Patsy and Francis moved to Rochester. This information was obtained from an Aunt of my wifes and the birth certificat of Francis which was obtained from the Catholic diocese of Blossburg, Pa.. Hope this helps and keep me in mind if you can connect any of yours with mine.Blossburg and Morris Run are about 3 miles apart.
Jim McNichols

Hi Mary,
My grandfather Mathew spelled his name Lucasiewicz later shortening it to Lucas. I found out that my greatgrandfather Elias
spelled it Lukasiewicz. He came thru Ellis Island in the early 1900's from Austria/Poland and settled in Philadelphia, PA. later moving to Coatsville, PA. His
wifes name was Aneila but most people called her Nellie or grandmother in her foreign tongue. If any of this rings a bell please contact me.
