Tunnadine is an anglo Saxon Name. from the 7th Century meaning Enclosure in the Valley (or Tunna's Valley). I guess the enclosure meant farm.
There are a lot of Tunnadines eminating from a village called Applyby Magna in England on the border of Leicestershire and Derbyshire. My Grandfathers Grandfather was James Tunnadine born 1806.
Best regards
Graham Tunnadine (Born Leighton Buzzard 1960)

I have just started to look at my family tree and my great granfather's surname was Tunnadine. However, as I have gone back it seems that this surname has actually been changed from Lumadue/Lunadue. I just wondered if you were able to give me any information as to the origins of this name.

Thanks for your time Mandy

Timothy lumadue's wife was the daughter of col. ricketts from ann arundel maryland. the ricketts were among the first families in maryland in the 1600s. he was a descendent of the deCheyneys that were of french norman stock and were related to every famous leader in european history. i believe his grandmother was mary cheney(born in maryland), who was married to an edward ricketts.col. ricketts moved to the clearfield area with a band of indians-i believe they were annie's brothers and was the first white settler in the area. grace lumadue(their grand-daughter?) was married to my ggg grandfather abednigo caskey.

I have been trying to figure that out also. William's census records say that he was born in Pennsylvania and Timothy's records say that he was born in New Jersey. It would seem, but cannot find any proof, that they are related somehow, whether brothers or cousins, I do not know. Do you know if William left a will or are there any church records for him?

Hello Sherri,
I was searching old messages and it looks like you married one of my first cousins, either Vincent or Jim or the third son who, sadly, I only met once briefly at a family gathering & just don't know his name. My mother was Leo I. Lumadue's sister, Jeanne Marie Lumadue Winterberg. I have restarted looking up geneology stuff to help fill in blanks. Unfortunately for me I have huge blanks since my mother died very young when I was a child. I have some very sparse info on Giles & Jane McMullen Lumadue garnered from this website so it may just be repeating whatever you already have. If interested, just contact via e-mail or you can always give me a call in Virginia (home) at 757-538-2006. Merry Christmas!
