Marietta, OH, Sept. 16, 2005 – Nancy J. Lathrop, 66, of Marietta, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 16, 2005 in Marietta while surrounded by her family. She had been a long-time resident of Penfield prior to her move to Marietta in 2001. Prior to her retirement in 1997, she was employed by Maple Avenue Hospital and DRMC as a registered nurse. She was a graduate of Avella (PA) District Joint High School, Class of 1956, and The Washington (PA) Hospital School of Nursing (1959). She was Methodist by faith.
Nancy was born on May 31, 1939 in Waverly, New York, and was one of four children born to Earl Carmer Lunger and Barbara VanAtta Albright.
She is survived by two sons: Charles (Tammy) Smith, Johnsonburg; Raymond (Dawn) Smith, Penfield; and a daughter, Chris (Larry) Painter, of Marietta, Ohio; 7 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Philip (Betty) Lunger, of Wintersville, OH, and two sisters; Patricia (Wallace) Howard of Elkland and Diane (William) Pollock, of Tacoma, WA, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A small memorial ceremony shall be conducted by the Rev. David Miller of Penfield at 3:00 p.m. on September 19, 2005 prior to interment in the Tioga Point Cemetery in Athens, PA.
