My ancestor, Reinert Lura, also came from Norway, a town called Sandnes, which is near Lura I believe. Also, I think his father's name was Hans Andreas Lura. It would be great if anyone has any additional information/connections to Reinert Lura.

He was baptised in Haugesund, Rogaland, Norway on 13 Sept 1891. His birth/baptismal record from that church is listed as #60 on the following linked page -
(They typically spelled that name as Racine)

He left Norway from the port of Stavanger in 1923 stating his intention to go to British Columbia (Canada).

My Lura family, on my mother's side, is from Haugesund, Norway. We have a small place near Sandnes in Rogaland, called Lura. I guess the Lura family once came from Lura near Sandnes.

I'm trying to find my grandfater, on mother's side. He was born in Haugesund, Norway, in 1891, on August 11th. He left Norway in 1925, and probably ended up in the U.S. His brother, Peter Andreas Wang Lura, emigrated to the U.S. in 1909. Peter Andreas was married to Inga.

im michael lura and im pretty interested in my roots too.

my dad told me about part of the lura family migrating to the states a long time ago.

my dads name is Magne, from sandnes norway, his dads name was Martin Lura who married Kristine Lura. if im not mistaken my dads middle name is Somme.

what do you know about the lura family??

I am not in any way kin to you - unless there might be some Viking blood in my English ancestors - but I am very interested in the name Lura. It is my first name and I know about 30 other women who have the same first name.

I am just starting my genealogy research and am very interested in where the Luras came from. I understand they came from Sweden, Lura Township or near Sandness, Norway. My ggggrandfather was Ole Aslakson Olson(Lura). I would appreciate any suggestions you may have.
