I am looking for info on the Nicholaus Lustig family living in Chicago in 1910. His wife was Mary Mittman. His children were Edna and Arthur. Nicholaus was 35 and born in Indiana. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I am waiting on pictures of the tombstone and his marriage certificate to verify this information (from death certificate) and to find his mother's name. Our Israel (who I've since learned spelled his own name "Isriel") was in Columbus, Ohio in 1910. I don't think he's the same Israel you are talking about.....

Yes! I am the 1st cousin of the lady who began this post and I've found out quite a bit more about the family since her first inquiry. I have Louis Lustig marrying Sophie (Sophia) Freeman according. I saw these names on the One World Tree. My GGpa is the father of Carl, who is the father of 4 children: Herbert, Frank, Annette, and a Mrs Siedman (first name I don't know.) I am Marianne's cousin, who first wrote this post on Isreal and Rose. I have found some wonderful information that somewhat contradicts what Marrianne has so far, but found it in local Ohio Jewish Community newspapers on line--One of the things I found was Rose Lustig's obituary, which confirms that my grandfather, Edward Lustig, and yours Benjamin Lustig, were brothers. Plese send me an email at dianne_malone@comcast.net and we can share info. I have all the Lustig siblings of your grandfathers listed by name and a few details on them. I'm sure you also have info which may help my search.

No I did not see your note of last week. The email address I use for this receives a lot of emails each day most are useful but not important (mostly) and as I'm very busy at the moment I have just done lost of bulk deletes.

I really do not have enough time to help at the moment. I can only sugest firstly use the links I provide under some sources. That I'm sure will lead to sites that help with Jewish research. I have not used the to ask for help yet.

Thank you Nic for the Baumblatt site - absolutely fascinating but as you said there is not too much "meat" under decendents. I only knew of 5 in the family - now there are 8.
As I am almost a complete novice, I will need help on how to update/edit the data. Also I would like to know how to trace more of the family. I think one needs a lot of time to devote to this hobby.
Btw how are you "related"?
Are we allowed to give personal contact details through this site?

I thought you had left us. I have no time to relate much to you and have to admit to having not got very far in tracing the family back.

I am one of the granddaughters of the late Benjamin Lustig. My sister said she went to Utah and went into the extensive Mormon database there. She said she found his parents, Israel and Rosie Lustig who came from Austria (which she thinks at the time belonged to Hungary) in 1888 to the U.S.

I don't see you listing Benjamin as one of his children. You say Rosa was married a few times, but it is too much of a coincidence that my great grandparents were Israel and Rosie Lustig too. At any rate, Benjamin married my grandmother (Esther Himmelfarb), and we know they resided in Akron for a time, then moved to Lorain, Ohio. Benjamin passed away in 1965. Esther in 1974.

My mom was Jean Lustig, and her brothers were Bill and Jerry. All of them have died in the early 1990s. My sister, myself, and a few cousins we know of are left.

Waiting to hear from you, we could very well be relatives.

Ok Ernastine Lustig (nee Baumblatt) died 29 Jun 1969 in Ernelo, NL

She married a Harry Lustig b 6 Sep 1888, Kopenick, Berlin.

I have a fair amount of data concerning the whole family, if anybody is still interested.

I have on loan the family arhive of Margo Lusting daughter of Harry and Erna.

Lustig/Lusztig from Kondo, Hungary - saloon owner?

Hey,

don't know if this will of any use to anyone, but i came across a reference to a Lustig or Lusztig family in my late grandfather's paperwork.

so this is somewhere between 1912-1920, although the Lustig/Lusztig may have been there both earlier than 1912 & later than 1920.

The Lustig/Lusztig's were the only other Jewish family (than my grandfather's Messinger/Molnar) in the small village (about 100 familties) of Kondo, Hungary. apparently Mr Lustig/Lusztig owned a saloon there.

if this rings a bell with anyone, there was also a castle there, complete with a graveyard & an estate farm.

i've got some more details, but only about the area (physical descriptions), the political & social climate & my family, but nothing else on the Lustig/Lusztig family.

just wanted to see it any of that helped anyone else.

I'm a french reporter, working in Pont-à-Mousson, where your grand-fathers were living during the war. I'm writing a story about a teacher of the collège Marquette, name Jean Strohmann who saved your mother and her sisters, maybe in 1942. Many people from Pont-à-Mousson remerbered this, in particular Elisabeth Combette who was a friend of Ginette. Have you details about it ? Thank you to answer to me.

Bourgie, was Elsie's nickname -- I'm unusre if I've even spelled it correctly. She was my father's cousin. I believe her maiden name was Kovacs. My dad lost touch years ago and I'm trying to find that side of the family. Her Mother's family were Schwartz -- that's primarily who I'm looking for.

I have a Sophie Epstein who married Albert H Lustig in Edmonton, London, UK in 1939. Then they disappear off the face of the earth again.

Presumably they may have gone abroad. Albert had overseas connections. Also, Albert's parents John and Alice and sister Jessie disappear, again they could have located abroad.

Any help most gratefully received. I feel close to finding out what happened to them, after so many years searching!

Billie passed away Friday, (Oct. 21, 2005), peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. At her request no service is planned.

She was born Wilma Lustig on Nov. 12, 1913 in Chicago, IL. On July 26, 1947 in Waukegan, IL, she married Russell Leonard, who preceded her in death. They moved to Shady Cove in 1963 from Granada Hills, CA.

Billie enjoyed shooting pool. She was a volunteer at the Senior Loaves and Fishes lunch program, and a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary No. 6881 in Shady Cove.

Survivors include, Larry and Peggy Leonard of Alaska, and Pamela and Dan Taylor of Sacramento, Paula House of Medford; three grandsons, two spouses; and two great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; and a son, Wesly.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Providence Hospice.

Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives, Medford.

Death of Johanna Lustig Lavinger

My great-grandmother was Johanna Lustig, born in Hungary, probably around 1840's. She was married to Abraham Lavinger, also spelled Lowinger. Their three children were: Moritz (Morris), Etel (Ethel) and Gizella. Johanna Lustig came to America in the early 1900's; she returned to Budapest, and then came back to the U.S. in 1911, and went to live in Allegheny, PA. She died before Jan. 1921--I'm not sure whether she died in Pennsylvania, in Ohio, or back in Hungary. She was a widow, age 60, in 1911. Does anyone know if she is buried in the U.S. and if so, where?

adam was married on July 20,1896 to Emma Edgar in Champaign Co. I also have a Nolan Lustig and a Emma Lustig (possible brother and sister).

Louis Lustig married Sore "Sophie" Feierman, daughter of Samuel (Shmeril, Shmuel) Feierman and Rivka Kesselman. She was born about 1894 in Turow, Minsk Gubernia, Russia [Turov, Minsk Oblast, Belarus] and died about 1966-1971 in possibly NJ, NY, OH or CA. She arrived in the US on 8/8/1910, going to her sister, Zelde (Jennie) Feierman, in NY.

Louis and Sophie Lustig had at least one known child, Ruth Marilyn.

Ruth Marilyn Lustig married Bob Bartholme and had 3 children: David, Diane and Debbie.

I would like to make contact with this branch of my family to get to know them and fill in the missing pieces of my family. I have this information "third hand" from our cousin, Patty (Rabin) Leppla who had received it from another cousin, Rebecca Wendy (Fox) Riggs.
