JULIET HAD TWO CHILDREN: 1. ROBERT CARL LUTHER BORN: 13 JAN 1923 DIED: IN FLORIDA ON 9 MAR 1992. 2. ELIZABETH HESTER LUTHER BORN: 16 NOV 1925. SHE MARRIED MILTON GRADY PATTERSON. I WAS LOOKING THROUGH MY HISTORY THIS MORNING AND DISCOVERED THAT THE OBITUARY FOR MAMIE MCINTYRE WAS WRONG. ALL OF HER SIBLINGS WERE DECEASED.

1. CONNIE PEARL LUTHER BORN: 1909.
2. VERA MAE LUTHER BORN:1914- HAD ONE CHILD HAZEL MAE LUTHER BORN: 1929 DIED: 1930. VERA MARRIED TAYLOR WILLIAM WORLEY [THIS HAS NOT BEEN PROVEN]AND HAD 5 CHILDREN ALL BORN IN BUNCOMBE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA. VERA DIED IN PRICE EDWARD COUNTY, VIRGINIA ON 3 OCT 1996.
3. HILBERT DILLON LUTHER, CALLED BUD, BORN: 1916. HE MARRIED AND HAD 6 CHILDREN BORN IN BUNCOMBE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA. HILBERT DIED IN BUNCOMBE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA ON 16 JAN 2006.
4. UNA IRENE LUTHER BORN: 1918 (TWIN). SHE MARRIED A MAN BY THE SURNAME OF SABIE. NO KNOWN CHILDREN. UNA DIED IN BUNCOMBE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA ON 18 OCT 1994.
5. BUNA KATHLEEN LUTHER BORN: 1918 (TWIN). SHE HAD 2 CHILDREN: CALVIN E. LUTHER BORN: 1944 DIED:20 DEC 2008. OTHER LUTHER CHILD MAY BE LIVING. BUNA MARRIED A MAN BY THE SURNAME OF ALEXANDER. SHE MARRIED A SECOND TIME TO A MAN BY THE SURNAME OF CAGLE. BUNA DIED IN BUNCOMBE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA ON 2 JAN 2002.
5. MAMIE ESTELLA LUTHER BORN: 1922. SHE MARRIED ROY MCINTYRE. NO KNOWN CHILDREN. MAMIE DIED IN BUNCOMBE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA ON 18 JUL 2009.
6. SAMUEL EDWIN LUTHER, CALLED SAMMIE BORN: 1924. HE MARRIED AND HAD 3 CHILDREN. SAMUEL DIED IN DELAWARE ON 1 JUN 2007.

THIS WAS A LOT OF DATES TO LIST. I HOPE I DIDN'T MESS ANY OF THEM UP. THIS IS ALL OF THE INFORMATION THAT I HAVE ON THESE RELATIVES. LET ME KNOW IF YOU DISCOVER ANYTHING ELSE.

Thanks for your information - I did make contact with a Luther family last year and we coresponed via eamil and I think that this Luther family may have been connected to the Mamie you mention as they referred to an old Aunt Manie but the trail went cold and they stopped replying via email. I do know when my Grandmother Mamie Luther Von Ohsen died - she died 22 Sept 1933 and is buried in Dix Creek Cemetery with I believe her mother Harriett and Grandmother Angelina. It is her mother - Harriet Luther and her daughter Juliet (Von Ohsen Luther) that I don't have the death dates for. I know that Juliet had 2 children and also believe that both are also deceased with Hester Luther Patterson dying 31 October 1975 and Robert Carl Luther in 1992 - but am not sure about Robert Carl's death.

Yes there is a strong Irish conection in my maternal family but I also know that the Luther family does have Irish and Scottish blood through their connectiosn with the Vance and Davidson families that originally came from Ireland and Scotland. My fatehr always said teh Luthers were originally Irsh and Scottish but that it was very far back in eh line as tehy were in America for a long time.

Do you Know Mamie McIntyre's husband's name as I have the information on this branch of the family, birth dates but not marriages and death dates etc so any info around that would be appreciated. I assume that Una was a twin? I don't have my family tree on line but am happy to share information. Any info on this branch would be so welcome. Also Katie Luther's family in NC ae trying to find some answers to the various mysteries such as who was Harriet's fatehr and what happened to Juliet and the other daughter so perhaps at some stage we will find out more.

SOME RESEARCHERS LISTED HIS MOTHER AS LOUISA FINCHER, WHILE OTHERS CLAIMED ELIZABETH ANGELINA (WALKER) POUNDERS, BOTH OF WHICH WERE WIVES OF HIS FATHER, JESSE WILLIAM LUTHER. AS IT TURNED OUT NEITHER OF THE WOMEN WERE HIS MOTHER. IT WAS ANOTHER FAMILY SECRET. THINGS SURE HAVE CHANGED THROUGH THE YEARS.

ABOUT YOUR MOTHER'S BIRTH DATE, YOU CAN GO ON ROOTSWEB AND PUSH THE POST-A-NOTE AND LEAVE THE CORRECT DATE. PEOPLE WILL SEE IT AND RECORD THE RIGHT DATE.

Apologie sif you get this message twice - something went wrong and I am not sure of the previous version went or not. Yes Carl Von Ohsen and Mamie Luther are my paternal grandparetns Vance Mitchell was my father. Mamie did have a sister named Katie Elvira Luther - My father often spoke of his Aunt Katie - she was born 19 April 1885 and died Feb 1937 she married Joseph B Canipe - she died in Rutherford County. Both Mamie and Katie appear to have been born out of wedlock as they are 'Luthers' no fathers are named and no record of Harriet marrying until 1886 to a Asbesrry Lanning- He may be Katie's father but who knows? We know that Harriet married him in 1886 and that he remarried again in 1893 therefore the assumtion is that Harriet died around that time but we are not sure as there are no records for a Harriet Lanning's death - Mamie was raised with the Luthers but Katie was not - must have been a double scandal at the time Also Mamie did have a daughter Juliet that also seems to have fallen off the face of the earth - she married her cousin Mitchell Nelson Luther jr. when she was 15 and had 2 children but seems to have either died or run away as no one knows what happened to her after 1930 and Mitchel Nelson had lots of other children by another 'wife' also Mamie had another daughter that is mentioned in her obituary that states she ahd a son and 2 daughetrs - could be a misprint but again who konws? My father only ever spoke of Juliet never another sister. Also there doesn't seem to be any marriage record for Mamie and Carl - My father and Juliet were born in South Carolina as that is where the Von Ohsen's were from (although originally from Germany). The Von Ohsens did not like Mamie and my father did not like the Von Ohsens he was raised in Ashevile with the Lutehrs. I would liek to kow when Harriet died for certain and any help with that or tracing Juliet woudl be wonderful news. I have all the detail on Katie's family and also my family . Lou Pero's s database was helpful and corroborated much of what my father had told us although it does annoy me that she has not vc corrected my mother's date of birth taht is 1926 not 1920! My mother woudl be furious to be made 6 years older than she was (LOL) Happy to share any info too.

I DO NOT HAVE A SISTER FOR MAMIE. HARRIET LUTHER IS LISTED AS HAVING ONLY ONE CHILD. THE 1890 CENSUS IS MISSING SO THERE COULD HAVE BEEN ANOTHER CHILD BORN.

YOU MIGHT WANT TO TRY LOOKING ON ROOTSWEB, WHERE MARY LOU PERO HAS A NICE SPREAD OF INFORMATION ON THE LUTHER FAMILY. SHE HAS RESEARCHED THE FAMILY FOR YEARS. IT HAS BEEN A BIG HELP WITH MY RESEARCH.

I HAVE WOODARD LUTHER'S LAST LETTER TOO, BUT HE DOES NOT MENTION ANY CHILDREN BORN TO HARRIET.

I am descended from Jesse Luther through his Granddaughter Mamie Luther (Daughter of Hariett). Mamie also had a sister Katie or Catherine that also has living descendents.

HELP! Brick Wall!!!

I'm an experienced researcher, but I'm running out of luck on this guy. We are supposedly somehow related to Martin Luther the church reformer.

Looking for Friedrich and Wilhelmina Luther. Who were married in St. Paul, Minnesota. Her maiden name was Pedersen. Friedrich was from Mecklenburg-Schwerin according to the 1860 census. We have his naturalization papers that say he left in 1854.

Justus, who goes by his middle name (Kilian) died November 1810. I'm not sure where he is buried, but his will was probated on November 19, 1810 in Berkeley County, Virginia, which is now Berkeley County, WV.

His daughter and her husband John George Hout (Haudt) are buried in Martinsburg, WV. I've searched through the Berkeley County records, but to no avail of finding Kilian.

Johann came from Germany. This is what I have for him

"Tradition says that Johann Phillip Strieter left the Catholic Church to follow Luther, becoming an ardent preacher and teacher. He left Germany because of the persecution and left Rotterdam for America, where his wife's father had preceded them. He was first at Goshehoppen, Pennsylvania, where their first child was born and died. Then he is found with the Alsace Church in 1742, mentioned in Mullenberg's report to Halle, Germany. He later moved to Hagerstown, Maryland, and in 1755 moved to Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, where he died."

Side note-I've looked through all the cemeteries in Jefferson County, WV (where I live and Harpers Ferry is) and have not been able to find a grave for Johann. I'm not sure where he ended up being buried. There is an old Luthern cemetery in Harpers Ferry, but I have not had the chance to look in it because it is fenced off.

In my Strider book, Justus' wife's name is not mentioned, and evidently she died before his will was made on July 20, 1808. In the will, he leaves a house to his daughter Christiana, born 1763; died 1847, but there is no mention of Jacob in the will.

The book does say that Jacob is probably Justus' son and probably migrated from Sharpsburg, MD to Virginia and then settling in NC where he appears on the tombstone records in Randolph County, NC.

I have Justus' parents as Johann Phillip Strieter, founder of the older branch of the Strider family in America, arrived in America on the St. Andrew Galley on September 26, 1737, accompanied by his wife Anna Julianna Whittman.

Anna Julianna Whittman was the daughter of Phillip Gottfired Whittman. She was born in 1717 in Frankfort-a-main, Germany. No death date has been found for her

I do not have Justus' wife's name, but his parents were Johann Phillip Strider or Streiter and Anna J. Wittman. That info came from the GenForum site and was posted by John Bradshaw here in NC. He has helped me with several of the Strider's in Randolph County.

Justus K. Strider died 1810 Berkeley County, VA (now WV).

Johann born Bavari Germany, married in Germany, so I suppose he sailed from Germany (don't really know).

Miss Suella Luther.
Miss Suella, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles O. Luther, died at the residence of her parents, No. 652 Locust street, Ninth Ward, at 10:30 o’clock this forenoon, after an illness of several months of pulmonary trouble.
Miss Luther was born in 1879 in the vicinity in which she died. She was a sister of Corporal Edgar Luther, of Company H, Fifth Regiment, and Private William Luther, of the same company, who are not on their way to Camp Thomas at Chickamauga Park. Her cousin–Valentine Luther–-is also a private of the company.
Her sister–-Miss Sadie A. Luther–-died at the home of her parents, of the same disease, December 14, 1897, and her cousin–-Miss Emma Kate Lucas–daughter of J. Emmett Lucas, died of similar trouble at her father’s residence, in Lower Yoder Township, last Thursday.
The deceased was a member of the Franklin-street Methodist Episcopal Church, the Sunday School, and the Epworth League Chapter, and was a faithful attendant at the services up to the time she was compelled to remain at home.
She is survived by her parents, four sisters, and five brothers, viz: Cora, wife of George Galbraith; Mollie, wife of Fred Colwes; William, Charles, Robert, Gertrude, Edgar, Maude, and Earl.
Rev. Dr. James Mechem will conduct the funeral services at the residence of the parents at 3 o’clock Friday afternoon, after which interment will be made in Sandyvale Cemetery.

The Luther Surname DNA Project was initiated on 10 November 2006 by Joseph Neal Luther of Kerrville, Texas. Kem Luther has joined this project representing the descendants of the Ebenezer and Aurilla Luther line. Recent DNA tests have shown his relationship to the Captain John Luther line.

This is a shot in the dark since your post was so long ago, but... We have a common ancestor: Jacob Strider (1768-1824) who married Mary Auman. I am descended from their daughter Elizabeth, who would have been your Catherine's sister.
I have Jacob's father as Justus Kilian Strider (1739-1810).
Is that the same as your information? If it is, do you also have the name of Justus K. Strider's wife and parents?

JOHN MOVED HIS FAMILY TO RANDOLPH COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA BY 1790. MANY OF HIS DESCENDANTS HAVE REMAINED IN RANDOLPH COUNTY.

JOHN MARRIED A WOMAN NAMED ELIZABETH. THEY HAD 4 CHILDREN: JOHN JR., GODFREY, ABRAHAM AND JONATHAN LUTHER.

ABRAHAM LUTHER, CALLED HAM, WAS BORN IN MARYLAND ON 2 DEC 1778.

AROUND 1790, ABRAHAM’S FAMILY MOVED TO RANDOLPH COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA.

AROUND 1803, ABRAHAM MOVED TO NEWBERRY COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA. HE MARRIED MARY ANN CHARLES AND STARTED HIS FAMILY.

BY 1820, ABRAHAM MOVED HIS FAMILY TO BUNCOMBE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA WHERE MANY OF HIS DESCENDANTS STILL REMAIN TODAY.

ACCORDING TO HIS TOMBSTONE, ABRAHAM LUTHER WAS THE FIRST LUTHER IN BUNCOMBE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA. IT IS BELIEVED THAT HE IS THE FOREFATHER TO ALL OF THE LUTHERS IN WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA. ONE OF HIS DESCENDANTS, WOODARD LUTHER RESEARCHED THE FAMILY HISTORY FOR A FEW YEARS DURING THE LATE 60’S AND EARLY 70’S. HE VISITED MANY CEMETERIES AND TALKED WITH RELATIVES IN AND AROUND BUNCOMBE COUNTY. UNFORTUNATELY WOODARD DIED BEFORE HE COULD COMPLETE HIS WORK. WOODARD STATED IN HIS LETTER THAT ABRAHAM LUTHER HELD OVER 5,000 ACRES OF LAND BETWEEN MOUNT PISGAH AND NEWFOUND MOUNT ON THE NORTH AND FROM WEST ASHEVILLE TO EAST CANTON.

ABRAHAM AND MARY LUTHER HAD 11 KNOWN CHILDREN: GEORGE MICHAEL, JOHN PETER, MARY, HENRY BRITTON, DAVID, JESSE WILLIAM, SOLOMON JEFFERSON, MASSOLINA, ANDREW ALLEN, ELIZABETH AND ALLIE LUTHER.

Any link to William Murray who married Mary Jane Docherty around 1890 in Londonderry? their son also William was born 1892? He was in Enniskillen regiment and after medical discharge from army worked in Greenock ,Scotland in the Shipyards. He died aged 27 in an accident at work. His wife Jessie (Brown) from Dundee had his daughter Mary Jane only 6 months before his death in August 1919.

My great-grandmother was Mary Frances Luther, daughter of Jessee M. and Sarah E.Hamilton Luther. I have been tracing Jessee M. back from her. They are in 1900, 1880 and 1870 census. That is as far back as I have traveled, so far. I will be glad to share what information I have.

Was your Clarence Luther from Washington County, Arkansas. If so I have his father as David William Luther, father of my grandfather Everett Earl Luther.
