I just saw your post.On 5/16/08 I emailed a Robert Luxem (rbmtca@msn.com) Mike Luxem (Luxems@Comcast.net) referred me to Robert. Hopefully those contacts will help you.

On June 9, 2008, I received an email from Mike from the Hartsung Automotive Museum in Glenview, Ill. That's the email address I gave you above.
I also shared Luxem info with Edith Luxem Bonhivert before she passed. She was a wealth of information!
If memory serves me correctly, we think the Jacob Luxem in Racine may be related to the Illinois Luxem and to the Minnesota (my family) Luxems.

Dear Berbhard, Thank you for your response. The information I have for my Luxem family dates to 1675 and it shows all births were in Mayen, Germany.

My data only shows Joannes, there are no Johann Luxems.

I'll recheck the data I got from Carl Luxem & see if any of the Family Records show a Johann from Irlich.

Jurgen dated 17 Nov 2002. On that same memo, it shows it was edited 26 Feb. 2003, but I don't have a copy of the edited version. I will have your 17Nov2002 memo translated & can respond to it after that.

Dear Dr. Luxem,
On Oct. 20, 2008, Bernhard Dames, who was helping me with the Luxem genealogy search suggested I contact you directly. I had forwarded to him the translated version of your October 18, 2008 email. For personal reasons he was unable to do further research at that time. Then my mother became ill and I also put my research on hold.
My father's cousin, Carl Luxem Sr. (grandson of Mathias and Sophia (Knechges)Luxem) recently passed on. In reviewing his many notes and correspondence, I was able to learn more about the original Luxem's from the Gering/Mayen Trier area.
Would you be able to help me continue my search for family records in that area? If so, what is your fee?
I look forward to hearing from you. Mathias Luxem was my grandfather's father. Thank you.

I've been doing Luxem genealogy for several years and accidentally came across your posting today.

I'm from the Luxems who originated in Mayen, Germany and emigrated to Wis. & Minn. I do have a Jacob in my branch who was born 25 Sept 1870 in Mazomanie (or Dodgeville) Wis. He married Viola Gardner & they had 3 children: Glenn, b. 1915, d. 2001; Eurdell, b 1916; Ruby, b: 1919.

That's about all I know about Jacob & his family. If you want to know anymore about my branch, I'll be happy to share whatever info I have.

I too am researching Luxems. Most of my Luxems were born in Mayen, Germany & emigrated to Wis. and then to Minn. I do have a Jacob & a Francis, but that may just be a coincidence with yours.

I've been working to find Luxem relatives for quite a few years, but keep forgetting to check message boatds. I found yours today & wonder if you are still interested.

If so, let me know. I have info back to 1675. I'm from the branch that initially immigrated to Wis. & then Minnesota. I believe there is another branch in Illinois.

I would like to mention a Johann Nicolas Luxem yet; was born 1797. He was a day worker and emigrated 1857 with Michel Luxem ; born 1836 (his son?).
Both was from the village Hünningen; close to the German/Belgian Border

In Oberwesel wurde ein Anton Luxem am 1.Sept. 1891 als Sohn des Nicolaus Luxem und der Elisabeth Arndt geboren. Es sind die einzigen nachvollziehbaren Luxems zur damaligen Zeit in Oberwesel.

An Anton Luxem was born at the 1st Sept. 1891 as a son of the Nicolaus Luxem and the Elisabeth Arndt in Oberwesel. These was the only of the Luxem family in Oberwesel at the earlier time.

There was an Luxem homestead in Wisconsin around Elroy and Westboro (1860) Edith Luxem in Mundeline,IL is 78 yrs. and is a great source for early Luxem info.

Grandfather, Paul LeRoy, born in Wisconsin in 1877, moved to Minneapolis, Minn, date unknown. Per 1930 census his parents were born in Germany, Wife: Lena, Son: Paul Jr. Believe his mother's name was Sophie, father's name unknown. That's all I know. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.
