I just saw your post.On 5/16/08 I emailed a Robert Luxem (rbmtca@msn.com) Mike Luxem (Luxems@Comcast.net) referred me to Robert. Hopefully those contacts will help you.

On June 9, 2008, I received an email from Mike from the Hartsung Automotive Museum in Glenview, Ill. That's the email address I gave you above.
I also shared Luxem info with Edith Luxem Bonhivert before she passed. She was a wealth of information!
If memory serves me correctly, we think the Jacob Luxem in Racine may be related to the Illinois Luxem and to the Minnesota (my family) Luxems.
Judy

Dear Berbhard, Thank you for your response. The information I have for my Luxem family dates to 1675 and it shows all births were in Mayen, Germany.

My data only shows Joannes, there are no Johann Luxems.

I'll recheck the data I got from Carl Luxem & see if any of the Family Records show a Johann from Irlich.
Best regards,
Judy Luxem-Heller
Dear Dr. Luxem,
On Oct. 20, 2008, Bernhard Dames, who was helping me with the Luxem genealogy search suggested I contact you directly. I had forwarded to him the translated version of your October 18, 2008 email. For personal reasons he was unable to do further research at that time. Then my mother became ill and I also put my research on hold.
My father's cousin, Carl Luxem Sr. (grandson of Mathias and Sophia (Knechges)Luxem) recently passed on. In reviewing his many notes and correspondence, I was able to learn more about the original Luxem's from the Gering/Mayen Trier area.
Would you be able to help me continue my search for family records in that area? If so, what is your fee?
I look forward to hearing from you. Mathias Luxem was my grandfather's father. Thank you.

Judy Luxem-Heller
Sun City, Arizona

Luxem

Hello Juergen,
the first mention of the name Luxem is from the year 1547/48. In the examination treasure and assessment rolls of the year 1547/48 is in this year a Merge (Maria?) von (out) Luxem mentioned. The next mentions follow in the years starting from 1644. In this and the next years two family trunks are mentioned. In the consequence of these trunks however your ancestor Gottfried Luxem is not mentioned (* 1795). Also the names of the wives do not emerge as surnames in Mayen. At this time however differently Luxem in Polch and Koblenz are mentioned. Much-calibrated your ancestor originates from this line. With best greeting
Luxem
