Hello again, Jane,
Right - I hope I have found you a juicy lot of information!
I had a look through the 1901 census index; in 1901, your Gran and the family were living at Portishead, Bristol, as follows:
Frederick LYDDON 40 born Bristol, Glos.
Jane LYDDON 43 born Somerset
Stanley LYDDON 10 born Clifton
Kathleen LYDDON 9 born Clifton
Frederick LYDDON 6 born Portishead
Victoria LYDDON 3 born Portishead
If you want to discover more info (ie, what Frederick did for a living, or their exact address) you'll have to download the census page, I'm afraid. However, I next had a look for a likely marriage for Frederick LYDDON and Jane and found the following:
March Quarter 1885, Bath District
Frederick Strickland LYDDON and
Jane Woolcott ELBROW
I then found the birth registration details for Jane and found what I think is pretty much 100 per cent confirmation, as it fits her age as given in the 1901 census:
Births Jun 1857
Elbro, Jane Woolcott Bath District Vol 5c, Page 740 (Quote the reference if you want to order her birth certificate).
I next tried to find her on the 1881 census, and found her working for a Baker & Confectioner in Clifton:
32 Regent Street
Clifton, Gloucester, England
Thomas BOLLING Head M Male 49 Dorset, England Baker & Confectioner
Fanny J. BOLLING Wife M Female 38 Clifton Bristol
Thomas W. BOLLING Son U Male 18 Bristol Clifton Confectioner
Jessie E. BOLLING Daur Female 14 Bristol Clifton Bakers Shop Assistant
Mary A. BACON Assistant U Female 27 Portishead, Somerset, England Bakers Shop Assistant
Jane W. ELBROW Assistant U Female 23 Weston, Somerset, England Bakers Shop Assistant
Sophia KELLER Assistant U Female 21 Totterdown, Somerset, England Bakers Shop Assistant
Eliza PARSONS Serv U Female 29 Bristol Clifton General Servant (D)
Henry BUDDIN Serv U Male 21 Dutton, Dorset, England Bread Baker
William CURTIS Serv U Male 19 Bristol Clifton Porter Bakers
Alfred KNELLER Serv U Male 16 Bedminster, Somerset, England Confectioner
Also from the 1881 census, I think these could possibly be Jane Woolcott ELBRO/ELBROW's parents:
2 Prospect Cottages
Weston, Somerset, England
John ELBROW Head M Male 62 Weston, Somerset, England Pensioner
Jane ELBROW Wife M Female 61 Weston, Somerset, England Laundress
So, taking it back a stage further, I then had a look at the Somerset 1851 census and found:
68
ELBRO William 34 Gardener Wilts Lamford Cains
Mary 31 Laundress Weston, Som.
John 6 Scholar Weston, Som.
Mary Ann 3 Scholar Weston, Som.
John 4m Weston, Som.
John Brother 33 marine Pensioner Lamford
The above was the only ELBRO/ELBROW household I could find - hopefully Jane Woolcott ELBRO's birth certificate will clarify things if you get it.
Back to the LYDDONs - I found Frederick Strickland LYDDON on the 1881 census -
2 Oakland Rd
Westbury On Trym, Gloucester, England
William S. LYDDON Head M Male 72 Bristol St Phillips
Anne LYDDON Wife M Female 57 Bristol St Mary le Port
Frederick S. LYDDON Son U Male 20 Bristol St James & St Pauls Bank Clerk
William A. LYDDON Son U Male 16 Bristol St James & St Pauls Clerk to Stock & Share Broker

Mary S. LYDDON Daur U Female 18 Bristol St James & St Pauls

Caroline HUDD Serv U Female 56 Bristol Hotwells Nurse (D)
Clara HEAL Serv U Female 18 Timsbury, Somerset, England Cook
Kate EDMUNDS Serv U Female 14 Bristol St Michaels General Serv
I had a look through the 1851 censuses for Bristol, Somerset and Gloucester, looking for William S. LYDDON, but couldn't find anything definite (though one or two possibles).
I do hope this helps a bit.
Best wishes,
Sue
