I have found the following: Olive Ethel Lyman married to Seth Taft was born 30 Oct 1867 (see death certificate online); marriage of parents Amasa Mason Lyman and Hannah Olive Felshaw is 6 Jan 1867 (see find-a-grave online). This took some time figuring out.

Lymans in Ohio

Am looking for Edwin Dyer Lyman b. 25 Feb 1877, s/o Elijah
"Guy" Lyman (1842 OH-1917 MI) and Eliza Jane Rankin (1847 PA
-1916 MI). Edwin Dyer Lyman m. Malbel Galbreath and May F. McNutt. Edwin is listed as 3 yrs old on 1880 US Census for Rives, Jackson, Michigan. Why the middle name "Dyer" found on his WWI Registration Card unless some prior relationship with Dyer family?

Want to confirm or deny that Elijah Lyman(1806 CT-1848 OH)
m. Sarah Dyer (1810 CT-1845 OH). This Elijah would be Edwin's grandfather. Would appreciate any help
re: Dyer - Lyman connection. B. Leever

Lyman: VT > Canada > WI > CA >?

Our Lymans are difficult to trace, but appear to have strong Canadian connections. Charles C Lyman was born in Canada about 1827 of parents who were U.S. citizens. By 1848 the family had returned to the U.S. and Charles can be found in 1850 at West Point, Columbia County, Wisconsin, living in the household of his sister Zilpha Lyman Sisson. Next door is his father George Lyman, mother Lydia, and family. Also next door is the family of his sister Charlotte Lyman Lester. From 1848 through 1858, there are BLM Land patent records showing land purchases by Charles in Columbia, Crawford and other Wisconsin counties. During the 1850’s Charles operated several business in the Lynxville area and was postmaster between June 1858 and December 1859. In 1860 we find Charles in Lynxville, Crawford County, Wisconsin, married to Rosalia (last name unknown) and daughter Adelaide (age 7). Subsequent records give Rosalia’s name as Celia. Next door is a brother, George Lyman and his wife Margaret. About 1866 Charles and his family arrived in California. They can be found in the 1870 census at Arena Twp, Mendocino County, CA. With him are his wife and two sons, Charles Gray, and Lewis L. His daughter Adelaide (Ada) is living next door, having married hotel keeper Manley T Perry in 1869. Charles’ son, Charles Gray died in 1870. Ada was divorced from Perry in 1874. Charles’ wife Rosalia Celia died in 1877 and was buried in the IOOF cemetery at Point Arena, CA. Ada married Raymond W. O’Neal in 1877. At this point we loose track of Charles and his son Lewis. They cannot be located in the 1880 census or subsequent records.
What happened to Charles and Lewis and where did they go?
What was the surname name of Rosalia Celia, wife of Charles Lyman?

Charles’ father, George Lyman was born in Vermont about 1804 and George’s wife Lydia (last name unknown) was born in New Hampshire about 1808. Their children were all born in Canada. They had at least 10 children; Charlotte (b. 1825), Charles (b. 1827), Zilpha (b. 1830), George (b. 1833), Marcus (b. 1835), Lewis (b. 1837), Elizabeth (b. 1838), Horace (b. 1840), Walter (b. 1842), and Joseph (b. 1851).
What was the surname name of Lydia, wife of George Lyman?
Who were the parents of George and Lydia Lyman?
When did the family move to Canada and why?
Why did the family return to the U.S.?

Any information about this family will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks:
Michael P Hallett
mhallett@socal.rr.com
I am looking for any information regarding Anna Lyman b. 1791 (dau Simeon and Joanna Palmer Lyman). She appears in the "Genealogy of the Lyman Family, in Great Britain..." by Lyman Coleman on p. 369. This publication lists her date of birth as 22 Feb 1791 in Sharon, CT. This is consistent with the Connecticut Town Birth records (Barbour Collection).

Anna married Hiel Fuller Rowley (date unknown). They moved to Greece, Monroe, NY where it is presumed she died ~1840. I would appreciate any information regarding her marriage, death, or burial.

Thomas Lyman and Laura Lyman

Hello,

I have found two marriage records in Portage Co Ohio:

Thomas Lyman marr Cynthia Eggleston Sept 12 1820

Laura Lyman marr Zalmon Eggleston 1821

I am directly connected to Egglestons and from my research I know that Cynthia and Zalman are connected to me, although not directly. They are children of Oliver Eggleston and Cynthia Skinner of Portage Co Ohio.

Are Laura Lyman and Thomas Lyman brother and sister? Who were their parents?

As it happens, I have an old old photo of a Thomas Lyman, which came to me with a collection of Eggleston related photos. I don't know if this photo is of the same Thomas Lyman mentioned above.

If anyone has further information, please contact me.

Thanks,

Colleen Lill

A simple nuptial service performed on Saturday evening united in marriage Miss Ruth Lyman and Hubert Claude Cox, son of Mrs. C.A. Cox, who resides in the East. Many lovely gifts were presented her.

Bidden were Mrs. L.E. Lyman, mother of the bride; Mrs. C.A.
Can anyone help me with correcting information I have for Cynthia? I have found conflicting information. Birth place as Big Cottonwood or is it Brigham City? Marriage place Panguitch or Fillmore? Death date 19 Oct 1874 or 1879? Are her children Sarah & Esther the same person? I have birth dates as 01 May 1873 no death dates. Also her son Willard Henry Lyman born 09 Apr 1874, death date 09 Oct 1963 or 13 Sept 1963? Where did he die? In the 1880 census Willard is not living with his father Amasa & 3rd wife Rosannah. Hannah's 2 children are. Does anyone know where Willard went to live when his mother died?
Is Lola Lyman 8 Mar 1895 a daughter of Cynthia? On some family tree's on ancestry.com it is showing she is?

I am the great-granddaughter of Myron Earnest Lyman and Lela Marie Hoyt, and I am searching for any of my relatives through this line. Somewhere along the way our family got lost from the pack and we would like to reconnect. If you have any information it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Caitylin

Regarding your message posted Dec 4 2008:
This seems to connect with my husband's LYMAN line of
BARNABUS>BENJAMINE>BENJAMINE> ISSAC
We visited the towns of Bolton's Landing & Bolton,NY on LakeGeorge to research LYMAN records in the Historical Society. Now, after a Google search, I see the town has a web site and includes NY census records and other genealogical resources that may benefit your search. I noticed ALLEN surnames in the online records. There is a Town Historian listed.
BARNABUS LYMAN had a brother, JOHN C. LYMAN b 25 Sept 1807 that lived in Canada,I believe.

Call Dorothy Lyman Waller at 212-349-8683. She can give you info on the Lyman genealogy done recently by Dr. Margaret Lyman
Dr. Lyman died a few years ago, but she did start the closest thing to a family association. she was a great person.

Does anyone have information as to what was the occupation of Barnabus Lyman son of Benjamin Lyman, father of Anna Lyman (1816-1873) mar. James Bush Allen Sr.? His children were born in New York then Canada and back to New York again. Whatever he did his wife must have gone with him or did he just move a lot and why.

I have just found the 1925 Iowa census that lists an Anna Lyman b. in Vermont, mar. in Canada, to James D. Allen. They would be my ggg grandparents. They are listed as the parents of James Allen who is 76 yrs. old in 1925 and living with his daughter Mae Moldt. I have no information about them but would very much like to find out more than their names. Do you think this might be the same family?

Thanks, Margel

Yes, that is the same family. I am descended through Barnabus' daughter Anna who married James Bush Allen. Their son James B. Allen Jr. was my gg grandfather. Anna and James were married in New York, but I can't find any record of the marriage. Did you find anything in your research? I went to the Bolton's New York historical Society website as you suggested but couldn't find anything. I believe I read somewhere that Barnabus' father was a school teacher at one point in Kitley, Canada. What caused them to travel back and forth between New York and Canada? - this question intrigues me. Anna was born in Penfield, New York. In speaking with another family member who lives in Canada, she said that the information passed down through the family was that Anna went back to New York for the birth of all of her children, but I cannot find any proof of that. She also said that one of Anna's sister also married another Allen brother and that they lived next to each other in Canada. I would be interested in any information that you can share on this family,

Thanks for your reply!

I'm looking for sources that will reliably connect Richard to the Sarah Lyman who married John Ward. We do know Richard came to America bringing his daughter Sarah, and we do know that a Sarah Lyman married John Ward; how can I know these are the same Sarah?

Thanks again!

CJ

Sarah Lyman (1620-63) / Coleman Genealogy corroborated?

I've found information on a potential ancestor, Sarah Lyman (1620-63), but haven't been able to verify it. Particularly, I'm looking for verification that she m. John Ward (1625-1694) and had a daughter Hannah (d. 1693).

I've found what appears to be this Sarah both in Lyman Coleman's genealogy (b. 1620 in England, came with her father Richard to America (in 1631?)) and in the Great Migration entry on Richard. But Coleman provides no further information on this Sarah, and The Great Migration entry only says there is no further record of her.

Also, has Coleman's British info ever been corroborated? I've never seen a British genealogy this detailed that didn't turn out to have been fabricated.

--CJ
