I was out at the Mae's grave in the spring to discover that my brother had not had the date of her death put on the head stone, so thats something on my list to do.
I have my mother's mother was a Lyon but her father my ggrandfather only had 3 daughters. I had the mtDNA done. Even though your father may carry his mothers mtDNA, his mother carries her mother's mtDNA this would not show your father's Y-DNA.

I used to go to those, too. The last one I went to was 1996. After my grandma died, I lost contact with the surviving sisters because I had no one's address or phone number. I just recently found a great-granddaughter of Aunt Bub (or Millie0 on myspace but haven't had a chance to get an address to write to my great-aunt. Millie's still alive and doin okay for her advanced age, the last sister I believe. I don't know if anyone else has done family research past Leigh's father. The trail seems to dead-end right where the Native American ancestor would show up.

I would like to know more about Donna and any of the other sisters if you don't mind sharing.

Wallace Dale Lyon, born 1919, son of Arthur/Susie, lived Yamhill Co., OR

I have an original postcard photograph of “Wallace Dale Lyon – born June 8, 1919, at age 4-1/2 months”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members/s.

I found the family of Wallace D. Lyon in the 1920 and 1930 censuses of Yamhill Co., OR. In 1920, he is the only child of Arthur J. and Susie, and age 7 months. In 1930, he is age 10 and the oldest child of 3. SSDI shows his exact birthdate, and that he died in 2000 in Mariion Co., OR.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Wallace Dale Lyon.

Re: Lyon family

I wonder if there's a connection here. I'm helping a friend gather information on her family. Her GGGrandfather was Henry Willis Lyons b abt 1807 in KY. He married in Morgan Co. IL in 1831 Polly Wishon. Children: John Van Buren, Samuel, Thomas, Elizabeth, Nancy J.(Nancy may be a nick name for Clarissa,) Mary, Juliann, Pheba The first 4 born in IL. Last 4 born in MO. possible Macon Co. Polly died after this. Henry marries again widow Elizabeth Robert nee Hull 21 July 1851 Macon MO. abt 1859 they moved to Grove twp in Shelby Co. IA. They add to the family along with Eliza 4 children: Skippy Ann b MO, Benjamin, Elva J., Emma Lucy. Emma being born in KA even though the family remained in Shelby Co. Oldest son John traveled to Oregon in the 1850's where he purchased some land. He returned to IA and the first 4 of his children are born in Shelby co. At some point he too must have been in MO where he married Nancy Elander Cline. Between 1863 and 1867 this family traveled back to Oregon and settled after a brief stay in Walloa co. in Polk Co Oregon. The family remains in the Willamette Valley to this day.
We know that Henry Willis Lyons father was born in PA from a census but haven't gotten any leads to help find that person. The only thing that leads me on is the Willis which is in your family also. It leads me to think there was a Willis family some where in the ancestry. Does any of this go along with your family
tia Marilyn

It's been a long time since I've been on here. I think Evelyn was my grandmother's sister. Donna was my grandmother. She was the youngest and to my understanding was mostly raised by her brother and sisters. We used to go to Stockton every summer for the Lyon reunion.

I remember Bub. We just looked at some pictures from those reunions. My grandma died in 1997, but the last reunion I know I went to was in 1993 or so. Grandma always said she her hair never went gray because of her Native American heritage, but I don't know any details.

I would share more about her, but I'd prefer not to post it here. Does this site have a way to just reply to you or would you post your email address?

Hello,
I must have posted my question several years ago, before my mother passed away. I had forgotten about it. Thank you for your post. My mother, Irene Kennedy, was Ivy Lyons's cousin. But I think my mother's cousin's last name was spelled with an "s" on the end of the name.
My mother's cousin lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada for most of her life. She had two sons. One of them communicated with me and told me that Ivy had passed away a few years before my mother's passing in 2005.

Thank you again for your post on ancestry.com.

Very sincerely,

Ann K. Hensen
