Iva P. Burgess "Granny Counts" Counts, 92, of Chelyan died Nov. 21, 1999, at
home after a long illness.
She was the former owner and operator of Counts Grocery Store, Chelyan. She
was a member of Little Creek Freewill Baptist Church, Chelyan, and a
lifelong resident of Chelyan.
Surviving: daughter, Vivian Lucas of Chelyan; sister, Cloa Litton of
Houston; grandchildren, June Deweese and Joyce Lavender, both of Chelyan,
Toney Lucas of Clendenin; seven great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Little Creek Freewill Baptist Church,
Chelyan, with the Rev. Jimmie Ryan, the Rev. Jack Suttle and the Rev. Johnny
Helvey officiating. Burial will be in Montgomery Memorial Park, London.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Little Creek Freewill
Baptist Church, HC 71, Box 219, Chelyan, WV 25041; Kanawha Hospice Care
Inc., 1143 Dunbar Ave., Dunbar, WV 25064, or American Cancer Society, 2428
Kanawha Blvd. E., Charleston, WV 25311. Good Shepherd Mortuary, South
Charleston, is in charge of arrangements.
