Re: Martin Martin 1665 part two

Hi. I just looked at your public tree. We are distant cousins. You from Valentine, and me from his sister Elizabeth. I have seen here the records of a Martin Martin being born in the USA, but I believe that Thomas Martin his father ended up in New Jersey. I also saw that you had Martin Martin's grandfather from Skye, and his great-grandfather from England. Was there a move to Skye? Do you have any oral history or tradition in your family? I do have a document showing a Martin Martin as being part of the British military in Barbados. It would fit the timeline of him being born in 1665, but he would still be in his teens. Also there is a common history of many british subjects coming to the states via the west indies. I am still trying to find something that links Martin Martin to Scotland. ...And not the Martin Martin that wrote the book and died in London. Look forward to hearing from you cousin.
Martin Martin 1665

I am a descendant of Martin Martin and Sarah Hix, through their daughter Elizabeth Martin. I found the church records recording Martin and Sarah's marriage and the baptisms of four of their children. Martin is recorded in 1689 in the St Peter vestry. He settled in Virginia. I cannot find any information linking Martin to Isle of Skye where almost every reference to him places his birth. Does anyone out there have a reference or a method? I can only find a Martin Martin coming from Europe to Barbados in 1678-79. I would appreciate any help. Thanks so much. Jennifer

Opal Mae Martin/Hendrick

Opal Mae Martin/Hendrick was my birth Grand mother whom passed before I was born. I did not know or learn of her till after learning about my adoption. I know that my Grand father remarried and was widowed my Opal Mae. At my Grand fathers funeral I was rather shocked that Opal Mae Martin/Hendrick brother came to the funeral.I was introduced to a man who I think his name was Richard Martin,he lives in Arlington Tx,but to this day I have not been able to find info about my birth Grandmothers siblings online. I would really look to reunite with them! Badly!

My father in law, born about 1890 in South Shields area, though his family came from Dunfermline originally. I think his father worked in shipyards, though Dad came south, did well in the Civil Service, getting an OBE after WW11 for services to Ministry of Economic Warfare. Due to family disconnection and the Scottish element it is proving very difficult to trace the threads back, although I believe he had both brothers and sisters
