The Rev. Gale A. Maas, 80, formerly of Fond du Lac, Wis., was called to his eternal home by his Lord and Savior on Thursday Feb. 7, 2002, from Mapleton Community Healthcare Center at Mapleton, Minn. He was born on Sept. 1, 1921, in Milwaukee, Wis., a son of the late Arthur F. and Lydia C. (Gieschen) Maas. He attended Nazareth-Bethel Lutheran School in Milwaukee, Concordia College in Milwaukee, Northwestern College in Watertown, and Lutheran Theological Seminary in Thiensville, Wis. On Aug. 14, 1948, he married Lillian L. Abraham Knack at Van Dyne, Wis. Survivors include his wife, Lillian; two sons, Daniel (Joanne) Maas of Mankato, Minn. and Stephen (Becky) Maas of Loveland, Colo.; grandsons Brenton, Andrew and Justin Maas; a step-grandson, Michael Boyce; and a sister, Cordula (Alexander) Ritchie of Newark, Del.He was preceded in death by a brother, the Rev. Al Maas. Burial will be at Ledgeview Memorial Park.
