Re: Verner Mabrey, Marion County, IN

Hi, I started a message to you then went back into my files to check a name and when I came back, it was gone. So here I go again.

Your father was the son of, Charles and Hanna Elizabeth Lines Mabrey. Hanna Elizabeth was the sister to my Great Uncle, William Edmond Lines. I am having trouble finding any DATE or PLACE of her Death. I don't know if she died in Sellersburg, or if she died somewhere else.

I was born in Sellersburg on 24 May 1927, over 82 years ago. I never heard of a Courthouse in Sellersburg. At one time, the County Seat was in Charlestown, IN before being moved to, Jeffersonville.

I don't know how many, if any of your Ancestors are still living, but thought perhaps someone in your family might know something about HANNA. I know she and Charles had two son's, your dad and his brother, Venon...I believe. As I recall, your dad, Verner once worked at the Stat Pennetentery? in Jeffersonville before moving to Indianapolis.

I live in Columbus, IN. My email address is, wjtac@sbcglobal.com in case you would like to exchange information. Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.

Hope you enjoy Family Research. I find it very interesting.

Regards,

William J. "Bill" Tackett

Looking for any connection or burial sites of Mabreys from Jefferson City MO area and/or North Carolina area:

John Wesley Mabrey, born NC, 1 Apr 1850, died Jeff City MO, 11 Jan 1898, who married Rosa Keller. John is buried in city cemetery in Jeff City.

From what I know, John’s father was John and Mary Mabrey. Father was born abt 3 Apr 1818.
William Mabrey from Tennessee

Looking for any info for William Mabrey. He had at least two sons, William Henry Mabrey born 1860, and Thomas born about 1859. He was killed when he fell off a horse about the end of the civil war or early reconstruction period. He had a farm on the Duck River in Tennessee. The sons relocated to Kentucky (W.H. around 1875, Thomas around 1905). Any info would be great as I unable to find any records.
I have been tracing my family and have found Elizabeth E from Evansville IN. She was born Oct 9 , 1922 and died in Posey County on Oct 29, 1997. I am wondering if she is the daughter or daughter in law of Carl W Mabrey who was my great grandfather. Did she have a brother Eugene or a sister Mildred? Not sure if she is the same Elizabeth, but sure sounds close. Email me with any info please and thanks.

Maberry's in Smyrna, DE

Am trying to find out more about the Maberry families in the Smyrna area in the early 1800's - in census records there appears to be a John Maberry, born 1760's, also a Thomas Maberry, 1770 - April 1, 1843, buried in old Asbury cemetery in Smyrna. In his probate records, Thomas had at least four children: Ann Maberry Parrott, John Maberry, Mary Maberry Boyer, and Thomas C. Maberry (who lived in Philadelphia for many years as a merchant). Also in the Smyrna area was a John C. Maberry (ca. 1797-1864) and wife Temperance Brockson Maberry (1812-1855) who were parents of the John B. Maberry of Smyrna who was a Civil War hero at Gettysburg. Can anyone tell me if the John Maberry who is the son of Thomas and this John C. Maberry are one and the same? Also any other information on these family lines would be appreciated.

William Mabrey died in 1975 and Elizabeth in 1998 I believe. A number of relatives still live in the Mt. Vernon / Evansville area.
I am afraid I do not know much about Elizabeth Mabrey and I am not sure this is the line you search for. Elizabeth was my grandfather William Bradley Mabrey's second wife and they lived in Mt. Vernon Indiana. This makes the Elizabeth I refer to a Mabrey by marriage. I am not sure of her date of birth and the date of her passing but will find out from my father and her children who still live in Evansville, IN. I will let you know ASAP.

Benjamin Mabrey (Mabry)...he fought in the Civil War

Hi,
I'm new to the board and this looks like it's going to be very interesting.

I need some help. I'm looking for anyone who might know anything about Ben Mabry (Mabrey...we're not exactly sure of the spelling). He fought in the Civil War and we believe he's related to my Great Grandfather, Walter George Procter (he was born in 1898). My grandmother (Nancy Procter Horton) thinks that Ben is related to my great-grandfather's mother somehow. Again, I don't have very many details to offer but I was hoping someone would know something.

My Great-grandfather was born and raised in Indiana and so was most of the rest of my family. Which raises another question. We are also related to Nancy Hanks Lincoln and so we're trying to figure out how this is all connected. By the way, my maiden name was Horton.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
