Hello Blair,

My Great Grandfather was a Gilbert McAlpine born Kintyre who married Isabella Irvin -from Isle of Islay. Not sure if there is a connection as Gilbert is family name and his father was Gilbert who either married a Mary McDonald or into the Campbell clan - this I am still researching.

Jeanette
No, I am sorry to say I have never discovered her parents, She was born in Scotland between 1780/1790 according to the Gillis book by Marvin Gillis. Her daughter Flora married into the courson family which leads into my Tyson line. She died between 1840/1850 in Montgomery County, Ga.
always searching,
ann

MACALPINE FAMILY

Hello again everyone. I am trying to find some connections with some one on my mysterious grandfather named Victor Macalpine. This is what little info. my family knows about him: He was born in Scotland -probably in Dunfermline or near by, he later left Scotland and ended up in Bournemouth or Portsmouth England, from there he left and ended up in Canada(do not know ship info or immediate location), then settled in Sudbury Canada and later Toronto-Canada, he was born approx. 1888 and died late 1960's(no records or persons that I can locate to help find exact dates), occasionally went by the names joseph and jack. I wish I had more info. to give. If anyone has any possible connection or suggestions where to look I would greatly appreciate it since this has been a very frustrating hunt.
Sincerely,
Elliott

As the many Clans turned out in the War 1745 came to a bitter end many a noble found themselves out of a living. The were industrius and survived but the records were lost. The morrisions were a younger Clan thatn the ancient and the problem that blood does not gobe wealth. Make many who benefited from the clearings and English "carpet baggers" shows that some need to exam how they treat the least.
My great grandparents were Alexander Laing and Elizabeth MacAlpine Laing, who married in Paisley, Scotland, on April 1, 1864. elizabeth was considered a Highlander and James was a Lowlander. Elizabeth's mother's maiden name was Morrison. The Morrison family was quite upset that a Morrison married a MacAlpine and many years later (perhaps in the 40's?) when Alexander's son, John, and John's daughter, Gertrude, went to Scotland and called on the Morrisons, the Morrisons slammed the door in their face as they were still mad about a Morrison marrying a MacAlpine, whom they considered inferior to them.

Elizabeth and Alexander moved to America in 1867. They had ten children. The first two or three were born in Scotland. Janet Morrison Laing, John Laing, Mary Laing, Lizzie Laing, Bessie Laing, James Laing, Alexander Laing, Annie Laing, William Laing, and Margaret Laing, though not necessarily in that order. I believe that Mary may have been the oldest, followed by John and Janet. Apparently Alexander and Elizabeth had 44 grandchildren from those ten children.

If oyu have any more information, please share it with me.
