My grandmothers maiden name is McArthur. Her fathers name is Eric F. McArthur. Eric F. McArthur's fathers name is Robert McArthur. There is a family story passed down from Robert McArthur that there were 3 brothers. The spelling of their name was McArthur. They came from Scotland and stoll a horse there. From there they fled to Ireland and then to Canada. While they were in Canada the 3 brothers changed the spelling of their names. One stayed McArthur, which is me, one spelled MacArthur, which is the General, and one spelled McArther. I don't know which generation did this. I know that Robert McArthur had a lot of hard feelings. My grandmother hardly ever talked about him other than he was mean! I just started to trace this side of my family. What else do you know? I only have info up to Robert. Maybe we can put our heads together and figure it all out! This is exciting!
