I have more information concerning a previous query re: Machado-Ferrera Family Tree:

Manuel Joseph Machado was born 21 June 1922 in Terceda, Terceira Island, Azores, Portugal... and,

Mary Ferrera was born 23 April 1923 on Sao Jorge Island, Azores, Portugal.

Does the Portuguese Government maintain census records which are internet accessible/searchable?

I am researching my new daughter-in-law's family tree and I sure need help(I know nothing about Portuguese family research - let alone speak the language!) as she and my new inlaws know very little about their ancestors. I'd sure like to have assistance/help locating ancestors for the following husband and wife:

M. Ferrera was born 1923 on Sao Paulo Island, Azores, Portugal.

ANTONIO P. MACHADO

Antonio Perry Machado, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Perry Machado, died this morning at he home of his parents, Jones avenue, off Black North road, Dracut, aged 27 years and 10 days. Although a semi-invalid for a long period, his death was unexpected, occurring after a brief illness. A native of Dracut,, he was well known to residents of that locality and also numbered many friends in this city. He was a member of St. Anthony's church. Besides his parents he is survived by two sisters, Emily and Laura Perry Machado; three brothers, John, Albert and Frank Perry Machado; one nephews and several aunts and uncles, among the latter being Anthony and Manuel Perry Machado of Lowell and Dracut.

My husband's grandmother Isabel Machado was born in Pico around 1876. Perry was also a family name and one of her children and grandchildren had it for a middle name.

Joseph Lopes, her husband, was also from the Azores. does this appear to be the same line?

I am hoping that someone may have a link to this family tree: I am researching for a friend.

Here is a brief history for which I am hoping to find the missing links:

BENJAMIN GOMES who was born approx. 1900-1907 was born in Terceira Azores. While a Baker on a cruise ship he met a woman named Regina Amelia Machado (born approx 1900-1907). She was from mainland Portugal. Regina was already married to a man named Antonia Machado at the time she met Benjamin. She also already had two children by this man (names unknown).

When Regina found out that she was pregnant with Benjamin's child she remained in Terceira Azores with him and did not go back to her husband or two children with that marriage.

Together Benjamin and Regina had more children. They never married.

Benjamin never came to America.

Regina left Benjamin and came to America when one of their children (born in 1927) was two years of age.

Benjamin raised the children by himself in Terceira Azores.

Some of Benjamin and Regina's children's names are:

Orbelo Antonio (born 1927)
Reginold
Maria Noemia
Maria Salome 'Sally'

Recently it was found out that although all of these children were Benjamin GOMES - the last name of MACHADO was given to them (the married last name of their mother) - It is thought that this was done because although she did not remain with her husband Antonio Machado - she did not divorce him and she never did marry Benjamin.

It is not known when Regina Amelia Machado came to America (although it may have been approx 1929). It is not also clear when she immigrated through or to which port of entry.

If anyone can shed any light on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

DEATH May 30, 1958 in Alameda, Calif.

Mae's husband was Joseph Machado, possibly Joseph Perry, and he passed away in May 1958.

They had Three children that I am aware of:

Two daughters: Audrey and Pearl
One son: George Perry.

George Perry was married to a lady named Mary, they had 4 or 5 children and he passed away around 1959 or 1960

Annie Alvernaz and her husband E.P. or Buddy Emanuel were related to them.

Jose was born in the Azores but left and came to New Zealand later in life and married..unsure if he had family left behind or not. Hi: I am searching for info on my family. Here is what I have so far. My Mother is Joetta Cord. Her father is Raymond Francis (1911-1998), Mother is Hazel Bengard. Raymond's Father is Frank Joseph Francis (1888-1956) married to Henrietta Bennett (1833-1955). Frank's father is Charles Francis (1860-1898) married to Sara or Sarah Locke (1860-1935). Charles's father is Joseph Machado Francis or Joseph Francis Machado married to Antionette Luvera (1840-1913). I hope this info is correct. I am searching for information about my grandfather's family. His name was Manuel Perry Machado and he was born in Pico, Azores on 10-11-1901 and died in San Diego, California on 7-5-1981. His parents names were Manuel Perria Machado and Mary Hilaria. I think that his family was from Prair da Norte(?). Hello, I am looking for information about Jacinto Moniz Machado.
He died in Fall River, MA in November 1893. He was in his forties and he had at least one daughter. He was probably from the Sao Vicent Ferreira area of Sao Miguel in the Azores, but I could be wrong on this point.
