WEST LIBERTY, Iowa -- Loletta Mabel Mackey, 95, West LIBERTY, died Monday, May 17, 2004, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.
Services at the Barker Funeral Home, West LIBERTY. The Rev. Al Zimmerman will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery, West LIBERTY.
Memorials may be made to the West LIBERTY Fire Department.
Mrs. Mackey was born Oct. 9, 1908, in West Branch, the daughter of Benjamin S. and Anna Wood Branson. She married Charles E. Mackey June 5, 1937, in her parents' home. He preceded her in death in 1971.
Since 1910, she made her home in West LIBERTY. She was a 1926 graduate of West LIBERTY High School and later attended Coe College where she was affiliated with the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority.
She taught in rural schools; including the Union School in Wapsie Township and the Union No. 7 in Goshen Township. She was later employed by the West LIBERTY State Bank for 30 years.
She was a life long member of the Presbyterian Church (First Church United) in West LIBERTY. She was a charter member of the West LIBERTY Federated Woman's Club. She was also a member of the Chapter AH of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Floriculture Society.
She also enjoyed playing cards and traveling.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two infant brothers.
