Macklin from New London WI via Canada

Good Day,
My paternal Grandfather is named Chester Reginald Macklin. He was Born April 2, 1902 in New London, WI. His parents were Albert E. Macklin born in 1868 in Canada, and Jennie (Hawkin) Macklin also born in Canada 1881. I remember an Aunt Olive visiting us when I was very young. It was Chester's aunt, sister to Albert i believe. Her married name was Philips and she had a son Ross. I also believe Chester had a sister Bea., either Beatice or Beatrix. She lived in Michigan. Chester married Adeline Lindusky and two daughters. My mother Beverly Karaus and Denise. Chester passed away sept 1975, my mother feb,1980. That is all the info I have so far.
If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated. My email is Jaegermb@aol.com, or you can also reply to the board.
Thank you!
Mary Beth

I don't know of a tie to Chester County, but I am not ruling it out. The George in the family I am seeking had the middle initial of "E" and was born about 1867/1868. I just saw new info regarding my George. Apparently, a cousin believes that he died at age 12. I am going to follow up to see if she has a source. If not, I will be back to looking for connections.

I have a Mary Ann Macklin [Anglican] for that period but you would need to ascertain her parents names and her birth date and her Parish or at least the County in which she was born/baptized in, in order to make the connection. Perhaps the folks at LDS could help you in this regard.

Eric J Macklin
The Macklin Family Foundation
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Macklin Family Tree DNA Center
Group Administrator
Houston, Texas, USA
Shelley Ray Saunders

Date Line May 20th, 2008.
I first met Shelley at 6:45 am on the morning of Thursday June 8th, 1967. She came running out of the south door from the staff kitchen straight into the main hall of the Banff Springs Hotel straight into my arms. I was 6'2" and i80 pounds and we were both wound up on the floor. I've seen bigger half-backs do a worse job. That was the kind of impact Shelley had on most of us. It was the begging of a beautiful friendship that lasted for nearly 40 years, including two great summers at the Banff Srings Hotel which included being being on my doubles tennis team and winning the Brewster-Kennedy tennis trophy twice for the summers of 1967 nd 1968. It was the begining of a 100 stories at le Grande Chateau in the Rockies and the Brewster family.
Shelley died a week ago after a very long and protracted battle with cancer. We shall all miss her dearly. She was a wonderful friend, a loving mother and a great mentor to her loving students from McMaster.
From our days of 1967-68 we can repeat an old and oft repeated refrain,..."We meet again somewhere...". On our many trips for the tennis trophy to Calgary, Lake Louise and Jasper Park, we can also repeat the phrase her boss [Karl & Deiter - the Chief Chefs] used - auf wiedersehen and the one Shelley and I used - Aschanae Schumagginae

Re : Macklins of South Carolina

Hi,
I am looking for descendants of the Macklin Families that lived in South Carolina in the late 1700's-early 1800. I find two on the immediate rolls, the John Macklin family listed on the Early South Carolina Census Index page 42, he was a Loyalist and in 1800 the Hugh Macklin Family of the Abbeville District page 4, I believe. Hugh was 45 years or older as was his wife. I believe one of these early Macklins had a daughter named Delilah born about 1775-1780. The name of Macklin turns up in our family many times in the form of a middle name, as was custom in the older days of using the wife's maiden name for children's middle names. I believe this is how people kept track of who was who and who was related to who! If anyone has any info, or even a guess, I'd sure be glad and appreciative of the help. My e-mail address has changed to AudrHorn8@aol.com please feel free to get in touch with me, Thanks Audrey

Best wishes.......
Jeanette
--------------------------

Source: The Medina County Gazette Friday, June 16, 1916

Mrs. Elizabeth Macklin Emig
Elizabeth Macklin was born in York county, Pa., Dec 19, 1829, and departed this life, the result of a stroke of apoplexy, on June 4, 1916, aged 86 years, five months, 15 days.
In the year 1852, June 21, she was united in marriage to Michael Emig. They came to Ohio and located in Guilford township, Medina county, O., where they lived together for 55 years.
Hello - I am trying to find more information about my Great Great Grandmother who sailed from Ireland to New Jersey then to Monterey California in the early 1800s - before the Famine, I believe. She was met by her Uncles who had settled in Napa County. I believe her to be born around 1829. In California, she met and married Patrick Henry Moss and had Rose Isabel Moss in 1874.

Bridget was born in Clontibret, Monaghan, County Monaghan, Ireland.

Thank you, I look forward to hearing from others.
Kate Shaver

You don't say if you're tracing backwards or forwards.

If it's backwards, then get Amelia's birth cert (JFM 1903 Watford 3a/789 Amelia Rose MACKLIN). It should give you name of father plus name of mother and her maiden name.

Re : Sina Macklin, McLin, McLean, McClean etc.

John Gamblin married Sina Maclin/Macklin/McLin/McLean/ McClean (b. c. 1805 in KY or SC) or other spelling about 1831 in Kentucky or Tennessee. It is also possible that Sina may have been a second wife, and married in the 1830's in Kentucky, Tennessee or Texas.

John Gamblin died in 1841-42 in Nacogdoches County, Texas leaving 5 children under age 18, and Sina, his widow . Sina remarried in 1842 to Shadrick Briley. They had one child, Lucenia, b. c. 1843.

Another researcher/family member has said that Sina was a Macklin/McLin/McLean/McClean or other spelling. That is the only clue as to who she may have been.

Does anyone know who Sina's parents may have been??

POW/MIA Korean War, MACKLIN

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Petersburg, Virginia as his home of record. His remains were never recovered.

Soldier: CLINTON BERNARD MACKLIN
Born: November 20, 1925 Caucasian
Date of loss: December 26, 1952

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Mackiln When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
