We don't know much about the Madsons in our family. My great-grandfather, Matthew Madson, immigrated to the U.S. from Norway, probably in the late 1800's. He had been a fisherman in Norway; in the U.S., he worked for a railroad at some point. He eventually settled in Iowa. My grandfather, John Madson, spent much of his life in Ames, Iowa
