We don't know much about the Madsons in our family. My great-grandfather, Matthew Madson, immigrated to the U.S. from Norway, probably in the late 1800's. He had been a fisherman in Norway; in the U.S., he worked for a railroad at some point. He eventually settled in Iowa. My grandfather, John Madson, spent much of his life in Ames, Iowa.

I understand they immigrated from Denmark abt 1873 along with Sophie (Caren's) family the Andrew Johnsons. Rumor has it that they came from a town in Denmark that began with the letter "A" ( needle in a haystack comes to mind.) Any information would be appreciated. I am happy to share my research.
