It's amazing how we come across old posts we never replied to. Anyway.
Susanna was the daughter of Thomas Delaware Mahon and Elizabeth Susan Johnson.
Thomas was born in Virginia. His father is believed to be John Mahon born in Ireland and died in Virginia and Jany (last name either Byrd or Dial)

Elizabeth Johnson was also born in Virginia and I have no information yet on her parents.

I'm descended from this couple so if you're related please get in touch so we can share more information. :)
I have a listing for a Thomas Mahon/Mahan via Familysearch.org that lists his marriage to my gg grandmother Jane Kennedy in Burrillville, RI on 2 Aug, 1867.

I also have a listing for a death of Thomas Mahan in Burrillville on 7 Dec, 1868.

I am not related to the Mahan family as Jane Kennedy remarried my gg grandfather Peter J. Friery in 1873, also in Burrillville.

My 3rd great grandmother is Catherine Mahan daugher of Bridget Mahan. Beside them buried in the Catholic Cemetary in Fort Wayne Indiana is Dominick Maan and Thomas Mahan. The records say they all came over from Ireland. I have no dates other then Catherine Mahan born June 28 1846 and died July 18 1928. I am guessing Thomas and Catherine were brother and sister with Dominick married to Bridget.

Jennifer,
My great grandfather was Lon Mahon. He was married to Matilda (Tilly)Hatfield until he died of poisoning of his moonshine. The man that sold it to him later married Matilda. It was a big deal within the family. My grandmother is Sylvia, the second child. She was extremely close to her father. Carl was the first child. There were 3 more boys after my grandmother. I have much more information if you so desire about Lon Mahon's decendents, but nothing about his family before Matilda. I am kind of stuck. Wanna talk and see if we are interested in the same line? Let me know.
Ericka (on here my username is Imakdee)

Hello,

I was wondering if you have any information on Lidia Deuel. Is it possible that this Lidia Deuel is the same four year old Lidia Deuel living in Ontario, East Whitby, Canada in 1861? She was the daughter (or perhaps granddaughter) of Henry Deuel (age 50) and Mary Deuel (age 48). There is also a brother named Henry Deuel (age 12) and a brother name Job Deuel (age 6). I believe the Job Deuel, might be a John Deuel. I believe that Henry Deuel might be my great great grandfather and the Job "John" Deuel my great grandfather. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated. You can contact me direct at dartagnanii@yahoo.com

Hello James.
The name Mahon has only recently come into my family tree. My four time great grand parents were a Hanry and Elizabeth Webster. They lived at Blainroe Wicklow but the Websters originated from the Roundwood/Derrylossary area. I have come across a marrriage in 1803 0f a Henry Webster to an Elizabeth Mahon which I believe to be of the previous mentioned.Henry was buried in Derrylossary and I presume his wife also.Elizabeth died at Blainroe in 1865 in her 88th year which would have left her born 1777.Does this Elizabeth tie in with any of your Mahon's.

John.

Am looking for info on Ed Mahon. I have no info other than his being listed as father of Walter McClain Mahon b. 1882 IN to Amanda Taylor. I believe Walter was born out of wedlock, so the only info I have found on his father is in one of Walter's marriage records Ed Mahon is listed as his father. Amanda (Walter's mother) later married John W. Hinton and moved to Michigan. Any help with this would be so greatly appreciated. I found an Ed McMahon in the 1880 census in Spencer, Owen Co., IN his father is John McMahon and mother is Mary McMahon with siblings, Thomas, Anna and Jane, but I have no idea if this could be my Ed other than he is listed born in 1862 and Amanda Taylor was born in 1864
so they are around the same age....Please help. Have also been told that Mahon was shortened from McMahon....Any forthcoming help is greatly appreciated....Lynette (nettiebug1059@aol.com)

I am afraid I have no real documentation on Reese's parents, I received the info from someone researching another branch of the Mahon family. I also received the info I have on Martha Ann from the same person. I am showing Martha Ann married Richard Rawlings, 2 children Martha & Richard.
Have no further info on Martha. I show Richard married Melissa Mahan: Children, Reese, Frances J., Mary M., Levi, Adelia F., Henry, Edward and Charles. I have no further info on this side of the family

I have no info on when the Mahon family came over from Ireland or where they are from. My father understood they came from the County Cork area but didn't know for sure. I am having the same kind of problem researching when the Wilson side of my family came over.

Re: James C. Mahon-b.1845, Barbados to St. Mary Parish, LA

James C. Mahon was my great grandfather. My mother, now deceased, had copies of correspondence between James and his family in Barbados. I believe his family home in Barbados was called White Castle. In addition to Anna and Hubert he had two younger daughters, Beatrice and Emma. In addition a niece, Alize Hudson was raised by the Mahon's. At least one later census (possibly 1890) lists her as Alize Mahon, but I do not believe she was ever adopted. I believe Benjamin Hudson married Mary A. Gordy. In addition to Florence they had at least one son who was the father of Alize Hudson and several other children. The Mahon family plantation was I believe called South Bend and was on the Bayou Sallie (sic) near Franklin Louisiana. The family home on the plantation burned and they moved into a home in Franklin, which my grandmother and her brother inherited after the death of Florence. My grandmother sold the home in the 1950"s after the death of her brother Hubert. This circumstance indicates to me that all the other siblings were probably dead. Family "legend" was that James was educated at either Cambridge or Oxford prior to returning to Barbados.
My grandmother Beatrice Mahon married William Hugh Robinson and had four children. Florence Blair Richardson, Marguerite Patterson, Betty Perrone and William Hugh Robinson, Jr. Of the four only William is alive. My mother, Marguerite, died December 26, 2007. As a young child I knew my grandmother Beatrice Mahon, Alize Hudson and Hubert. I do not believe I ever met any of the other siblings. Hubert Mahon never married. I believe Hubert was a merchant marine officer for Lykes Steamship. I met him on several occasions when I was younger. Alize Hudson, sometimes shown in census records as Alize Mahon, married John Newton Barineau. I have a oil portrait we believe to be of Mr. Gordy, the father of Mary Hudson and a cousin has a painting believed to be of Mary Gordy Hudson the mother of Florence.

My mother had some correspondence that indicated that a Mahon ancestor had live in Louisiana prior to the time of the Louisiana purchase and had been an officer in the French Army under Napoleon. If that were true, I would assume it was not healthy to be a Irishman who fought for French in any English speaking area.

Sorry, I can not be more accurate. Most of my knowledge is hearsay.
I have a James Laughead Algeo, married to Martha Mahon. They had several children. There was an epidemic that killed Martha and several children, leaving two children John Mahon Algeo, Mary Ann Algeo, and their father. This would have been Jefferson County, OH Early 1800's. John was born 1824, and Mary Ann was younger. There was a John Mahon on a census near James Laughead Algeo. He might have been the brother, or the father of Martha.
Thanks for consideration in this,
Marianne
mamagack@hotmail.com
According to my Mother, who was born in 1923 and who passed away in 2000, the family left USA in around 1934 and my Grandmother passed away in that year.

Any information would be gratefully received.

The old parish records for Lanarkshire do not have any Mahon's in them, so I expect the family was not originally from that county.

About 1831 Alex married Catherine Gillespie.
