One of my brothers has a condo in NH (economy still permitting)and I asked the youngest to scan that picture if he has not already done so. He has a list of names for all the parties that our Grandmother made to accompany the shot. She was just a little girl at the time. My great-grandmother Mahoney was a Savoy and one of my nieces is Savoy Kennedy. Anyway, I will do the best I can with that pic and it looks like we can attach to correspondence at Ancestry.com.

I live in California and my brothers live in RI. Also one of gram's brothers appeared as Uncle Sam in a series of Andy Warhol prints www.lablaa.org/warhol/imagenes.html. What you see in this photo is a copy of the original poloroid taken by Warhol that was the basis for the series. The poloroid is now in the Museum of Art at the University of Houston. I know its at U of H but I'm not completely sure if it is in that museum or not.

Hi,
My mothers family are Bogue from Belgooly in south Cork, which is only 8 miles from Carrigaline. Our Bogue (Buig) family (depending on the literacy rate at the time) are all from the Barnahely area outside Carrigaline and most of them lived in Ringskiddy (Cork Port today). All the Bogue ancestors are buried in Barnahely graveyard, and I have collected information over many years from Monkstown, Shanbally, Carrigaline, Crosshaven, Belgooly, and Kinsale (where the present day Bogue family reside). All the above towns / villages are in a radious of 15 square miles.
The Sullivan-Bogue connection is another interesting side track. It appears this family were a sub-clan of the O'Sullivan-Bere clan from Dunboy Castle in West Cork several centuries ago. According to Fr.Sean Cotter, P.P., Monkstown who is originally from the Beara peninsula area of Cork, he informed me several years ago that 0'Sullivan-Bogue was an old name of that area.
If you need further information on the Bogue family, please email me at "michaelbarry54@ireland.com"
Interestingly the Irish National Archives (NLI) have a new website with the 1911 census on it, and you can research the Bogue / Buig / Boohig / Boghue family on it, and copy freely the original census forms from the site.
Site is "http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie"
Good luck on your research, and don't hesitate to contact me if you require further information.
Slan,
Michael,
PS - I visit Boston frequently from Kinsale as my sister lives in Hull.

I'm looking for information on Maurice Mahoney, b.1873 Ireland- possibly C.Kerry, and his parents were James and Bridget (Enwright) Mahoney. Found a listing for Edward Mahoney, married to Minnie Mason. Both Maurice and Edward have the parents James and Bridget (Enwright), so I suspect they are brothers. Both lived in Winchendon MA circa 1902.

Maurice married Margaret Connor (b. Winchendon) in 1904 in Winchendon MA. They had 5 children, Patrick, Kathleen, Maurice, Francis, Mary.

Any information would be great.
Thanks,
Katie

Thanks for at least a little information about Dennis. I did not know that he was the one who came over from Ireland. That must be the one I am related to for I remembeer my grandfather said that his family had come to Virginia first and then Indiana/Kentucky for they could not farm well in Virginia due to the rocky soil. My grandfather lived in Bedford, KY and moved to Lexington when his children got to college age. He had a furniture store there and sent all of his children except one to UK. The seventh one, my mother, went to Transylvania.

great i would also like you to know that the mahorney/mahoney that stems from dennis is from kentucky not indiana. he came from ireland, then virginia, then to kentucky. it will be hard to find much further as the records in ireland were burned in a fire in the 19th century, a woman i know even went to ireland to get more info on that clan but it is gone.

Mahoney and Lavina Jane Fall who were from Henry Co.Indiana. William 's parents were Fielding Mahoney and Rebecca Yeager from Virginia. Fielding was the son of Dennis and that is as far as I have gotten. Do you have any information beyond Dennis?

Strangely enough Mahoney is my married name, but my Grandmother whose name was Mary Nelson, and her sisters were raised (or adopted/fostered) by a Mary Mahoney in Oklahoma. Some of the facts have been lost along the way, but I know my Grandma lived part of her childhood in Enid. That is the reason I'm in the Oklahoma Mahoney search.

The Mahoneys I married into are from Ohio, but that is another strange story. My father in law wasn't born a Mahoney, but his birth mother left so he was sent to live with a relative (Tom Mahoney and his wife Teresa) in Ohio.

Family trees on both sides have several branches that lead to non blood relatives. But it doesn't get boring

Hi John,
I have a William Mahony in my family tree. He was my great grandfather and was born in Cork abt 1845 - possibly 1844. As I understand it, my ancestors were from a fishing family in Cork and William left Ireland probably 1875, to become a boatman in the British Coastguard operating mostly out of Cornwall. William was married to Anne or Hannah Morrisson and they had 6 kids - some born in Aghada, County Cork and others born in Cornwall. William retired around 1900 and I think died in St Austell, Cornwall 1909. Let me know if these details seem like a close match.
all the best, Mike

Thanks for the info on Cain Mahoney and his family found in the Malden Mass 1080 census. I've been traveling for a few weeks and haven't used the Internet. That was very useful as it did contain the names of relatives that I hadn't know existed. T had known of course that Mary A was my ggrandmother, Lizzie Gregg my grandmother but I hadn't known of Michael, Margret or Timothy. Your info allows me to now pursue other avenues.

John 'Jack' Edward Mahoney, 79

MUSCATINE, Iowa - John 'Jack' Edward Mahoney, 79, Muscatine, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2008, at his home after a brief battle with cancer.

Memorial Mass will be at the St. Mathias Catholic Church. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa.

Memorials can be made to Amenity Hospice in care of Lorraine Mahoney.

‘Jack’ was born on August 23, 1929, in Davenport, the oldest surviving son of Alberic 'Bert' and Adeline Hammer Mahoney.

As a very young boy, he lived in Detroit, but returned to the Davenport area before high school when his father bought a farm in the area, known as “Mahoneyville” by some, on highway 61. The farm later housed a dairy store, an auto race track then a lake and picnic area.

In 1948, Jack married Lorraine Moses. The couple continued to farm for a while, but also worked in other areas.

An outgoing man of many interests and talents, in his early years. He worked as a milkman, a steamfitter, insurance agent, and in construction. In 1963, the couple bought Fritz’s Tavern near downtown Muscatine. They later sold the business and he then worked at HON Industries, H.J. Heinz and Hinman Construction. He was with the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Department for a few years, then in 1981, the couple bought a business in Unionville, Missouri. They ran the Alamo Motel for 15 years before retiring to Muscatine in 1996. His retirement allowed him the chance to be a 'gentleman farmer,' not working year round, but working with his son-in-law when needed.

He loved to travel and made family vacations a priority when his children were young. While most would consider driving a station wagon hundreds or thousands of miles crammed with six kids anything but a vacation, Jack seemed happiest those two weeks of the year. After their children were grown, he and Lorraine traveled extensively. He’d been to all but three states in the U.S., also traveling to Mexico, Canada and seven European countries.

A man quick to smile and enthusiastic about life, he succeeded in everything he did. Never one to sit on the bench, he enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, woodworking, boating, photography and card playing, even teaching his young grandchildren the finer points of poker. He also believed in sharing his many gifts whether it was mentoring fellow AA members, rolling up his sleeves at the Wilton Senior Center, or helping a friend or neighbor, he would do the best he could. This year, he was named Senior Resources Outstanding Volunteer of Muscatine County.

He would try just about anything snorkeling, even though he couldn’t swim, and he bought the first bicycle of his adult life after age 70. Even though he never played an instrument himself, he loved all types of music and made music lessons a priority for all of his children. His belief in living each day to the very best of my ability at that time served him well throughout his life, and during his final days.

A life-long Catholic and a very spiritual man, he believed his passing is the beginning of his next adventure.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lorraine Mahoney of Muscatine; six children, Sue Evans and husband, Frank, of Nichols, Terri Schubich and husband, Neil, of Muscatine, Denny Mahoney and wife, Lezlie, of Nichols; Diane Eaton of Muscatine; Kathy Danner and husband, Ralph, of Muscatine, and Cyndi Fahrlander and husband, Mike, of Overland Park, Kansas; 15 grandchildren, Traci Lippelgoes, Darci Morgan, Jeremy Schubich, Julie Saunders, Kelly Cowie, Lucy and Doug Mahoney, Shannon Lewis, Thom Eaton, Stephanie Lukavsky, Ben, Cole, and Morgan Danner, and Emma and Addie Fahrlander; 11 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jim Mahoney of Crystal River, Florida and Pat Mahoney of Oregon, Wisconsin.
