Any info re possible connection between Andrew Maiden and Lawrence Mayden (father of Daniel, John, Archibald, etc). He was last know living in Lawrence Cty, Indiana in 1850 census. wife Phoebe was living with son, george, in Mo in 1860. So many Maiden/Maydens in Lawrence Cty, Ind; seems like a connection should exist

Hello, I have been trying to trace Maidens and Kellys from Richmond & Westmorland counties in VA. They were all either "mulatto" or "negro." Landon Maiden born in 1819-1820 had a daughter Margarett, had 3 sons Joseph, John Arthur and Daniel. Daniel Maiden had approx 13 children with Ida Kelly. Any connection?

Interesting. I am from the Maiden line as well. They too lived in Warsaw, Virginia, however, my grandfather and two of his brothers moved to Philly and southern NJ - where I was born.

My grandfather was Otha Maiden and his dad was Alexander Maiden (died in 1909) while my grandfather died in 1946 in NJ. They were all African American.

Should we chat more in depth?

Looking for information on Rufus Maiden. My Great Grand parents are Rufus Maiden and Louisa "Lou" Roy. In 1914, they both lived in the Washington, DC area. At some point, my grand mother moved back to Virginia. The 1930 census records show that my grand mother "Lou" lived in Washington, Richmond County, now known as Warsaw, VA.

Thanks,

Okay - do you know the year your great grandfather died? You said that the boys went to live with another family, was it because the parents died? I looked in the Social Security Death Index and only saw one Shirley Madden who died in PA and they died in 2004 - probably not yours.

do you live in the area? Maybe old newspapers?
Parents: Shirley MADDEN & Mary ASHTON.
children: Ruth, Robert & David.

Okay - I have Heritagequest and it found him on the 1920 census, Looks like Mary's grandparents were born in England
ASHTON, Mary A, head, 69, PA, England, England, none
ASHTON, John A, son, 41, PA, PA, PA, Foreman
ASHTON, Jane, daughter, 40, PA, PA, PA, Bookkeeper
ASHTON, Edith, daughter, 34?, PA, PA, PA, Bookkeeper
NISKY?, Walter, son-in-law, 44, PA, PA, PA, Salesman
NISKY?, Anna, daughter, 50, PA, PA, PA, none
MADDEN, Shirley, son-in-law, 30, PA, PA, PA, Rivitor
MADDEN, Mary, daughter, 31, PA, PA, PA, none
ARNOLD, Jane, sister, 82?, PA, PA, PA, none

I know this may be along shot-but we will grasp at anything right now. My grandmother Ruth Shirley Madden had a father Shirley Madden whom lived on Kerper Street 1054 Kerper Philadelphia pa-I was told in the Summerton area I believe and married Mary Ashton. She had 2 younger brother Robert who went to live with part of the family with the last name Linde and David. We would love ANY help we can get at all to find out any information about the family and hopefully make a connection. I was told the Ashton part of the family was Pennsylvania Dutch and the Maddens were Episcopolan. I hope we can make a connection. I was told her was an iron-worker or carpenter. I would LOVE any information at all. I never knew my grandmothers dad and my Mom and Aunts said they didn't BUT there was a man they saw whom was tall, and very handsome whom knew certain important dates and would give them flowers and little tedy bears-they called him thought he was Santa Claus.

Danielle Ziegler Almes

Robert Henry Maiden

Hi,

They could very well be in differnt places in 1901 but in 1907 I think they were living in the same place, 44, Church Street, Aberbargoed. Janett's husband to be, Robert Henry Maiden was living with them at the time of his marriage & what I can gather from my father, that Robert was living with his in-laws at that time. I've tried looking for them on the 1901 census & I can't make out why they are not there, any of them, my Dad always said that, that part of his family were gypies, I can't even find Janett's husband any where.

Nikki- I'm responding to an old post, so I'm hoping this reaches you... I've been researching the Maidens for years now. My grandfather's mother was a Maiden, and he made sure to introduce me to all of his kin and took me to all the the cemeteries and whatnot...
In your post, you mention you grandfather's name John Henry Maiden. I have recorded John H., son of Morgan Utz Maiden and Mary Elizabeth Campell, b. abt 1872. Could they be the same person?

Wm Fred Crane

Hello,

I am still trying to find my correct Maiden/Maden/Meyden & even Mitton ancestors, but not having very much luck, I have just this moment ( 1 hour ago ) ordered Robert William Maden's birth certificate in Uppingham and a Jane Meyden who was born in Chepstow, these two were part of a family who I believed lived in Leicestershire and then Coity in Bridgend and then to Abercynon near Pontypridd, my Robert Maiden lived near by in a place called Penrhiwceiber, but he was known as Robert Henry Maiden but with the history I have had tracing this family I believe thats its quite possible that names as well as dates can chnge. On the census he states that he was born in Rutland Oldham ?

His fathers name was Authur ( William ? ) and Elizabeth Thompson, on the census Arthur says he is from Dorset and Elizabeth from Wigan.

Let me know what you think.

Rhiannon

Sorry this reply comes so late, but her name was Theodosia Lee. My father did extensive research on her in the 1970's and 1980's. I will dig into my files and find what info I have on her. Alan
