Hi

So far I have got as far back as John Mail (Meil) born before 1710, and the only info I have on him is that he came to Shetalnd from Orkney as a master of a sloop. Have so far been unable to track him back any further. He had one child Hector Mail born before 1735.

I am in Derby in England, My Grandmother who is Euphemia Maill (somehow the spelling changed down the family tree) though was born in Glasgow, where some of my ancestors moved to.

Hope you have a great time on yours hols, and hope you can find out some further info. We are hopefully going to plan a break up there soon!

Thanks for that. What connections has John Mail with Shetland?

In point of fact, I leave for Shetland tomorrow (Thursday) for a holiday. I hope to meet up with the folk who posed the original query.
