Sorry it took me awhile to respond. Here's some of what I have:
Jennie Luella Mailman 1894-1979 m 1912 to Robert Charles Reeves 1892-1970. Children are:
William Walter Reeves m Audrey Weagle
Helen Reeves m James Chisholm
Charles Chester Reeves (died WWII in Sicily)

I can trace it back farther than Jennie, but this is a start. Can you tell me where you fit in?

Thanks, Lisa

Martha Mailman/William Gibbons of Queens Co., Nova Scotia

My great-great grandmother was Martha Mailman, born about 1849 in Charleston, Queens Co., Nova Scotia, to William Mailman (a lumber merchant) and Caroline (last name unknown). Martha married William Gibbons (a carriage maker) June 30, 1868 in Charleston. He is the son of Charles Gibbons and Mary (last name unknown).
Martha and William had a son named John (although I believe his given name was Francis) Gibbons, born Nov 5, 1871 in Mill Village, Queens Co. John eventually found his way to Brockton, Mass and married Ellen Veronica (Nellie) Ryan about 1902. John died Apr 11, 1914 in Brockton. His obituary listed two sisters, Anna P. Gallagher, who lived in East Boston at the time of his death; and Isabella Fay, who lived in Winthrop, Mass. He seems to have also had a sister named Martha and brother whose name is unknown.

I would welcome any more information on this family, and would be willing to share what I have. Thank you, Jolynn Noel Winland

Hanley was my Great, Great Grandfather. Married Evelyn Viola Acker before 1910, as they have a less than 1 year old daughter, Hazel in the 1911 census. They were living with Evelyn's parents, Levi & Dinah at the time of the census. Evelyn remarried in 1927, so I'm not sure if Hanley died or they divorced.

Hanley's parents are William Mailman and Sophia Naomi Mader. I've got information one more generation back from that as well. Just send an email to jollybean@hotmail.com and perhaps we can collaborate.

Crystal Peach

Hi, Donald!
Are you related to Judy Mailman of Danforth? She would be around 80 now, and I don't know her married name. She married a man from Massachusetts. She was tall and quite thin, with dark hair and eyes. She was a nurse, and good friend of my grandmother, in Needham, Ma. in the 50s/60s.
Sorry not to be of real help, I was just wondering if Judy was still alive, as I'd love to talk with her.
My grandmothers father was Jacob Mailman born in 1852 or 1855. I would love to find out where the family originated and when they came to Canada. Please email with any info on the family as well as the ones who left NS in the 1850's for New Zealand. This is quite a surprise to me. I visited NZ in 1997 but would love to go back!

Percival Leroy Mailman or Richard Mailman

Hello Everyone.
I am trying to search out my mothers maiden name of Mailman. My great grandfathers name is Percival Leroy Mailman and he lived from 1889 to 1959. I believe he served in WWI with the 219th "Oversea's" Highland Battalion. His attestation papers listed his father as being "Richard Mailman." I know he had a brother named Richard as well. I found a census entry on the familysearch website for a Richard Mailman from Annapolis Nova Scotia at about the right time who's father was named George as is my grandfather. If anyone has any information on any of these individuals I'd really appreciate hearing from you. If you need more information either email me or use my website at http://sodapop68.home.attbi.com/mailman.htm
Thank you

I'm searching for family and information about a friend of mine, Murray Mailman. He was born on October 28th, 1908, but I'm not sure where. His wife, Stella, died about 4 1/2 years ago when she was 96. They never had any children and all of their brothers and sisters are dead. Aside from a couple of friends, he has no one else we know of. Murray just entered a nursing home in Massachusetts a few weeks ago and considering his age, time is of the essence.
If you have any information about him and/or his family, please contact me at my e-mail address, hankpenning@hotmail.com, call me at 215-572-1256, or write to me at 1545 S. Limekiln Pike, Glenside, Pa. USA, 19038. Any information will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help. Hank Penning

Colin:
Thanks for answering. We are certainly related. My great-great grandfather was Albert Mailman of Baker Settlement, NS, my greatgrandfather was James Albert Mailman of B.S. and Chelsea, and my grandmother was May Mailman who moved to the States with her husband, Spurgeon Rodenhiser of Upper Branch. I have a special interest in finding out more about the Mailmans from St.John-will explain when I contact you privately.
Lisa Rasmussen

Hi: I am researching the Mailman family tree--anyone with a connection back to Nova Scotia or New Brunswick. There's also a large branch of the family in New Zealand (see Lou Mailman's earlier posted message). I have accumulated a very large data base on Mailmans over the last decade and am willing to share information with other members of the family--am always looking for new branches of the tree. Please contact me at any time at LARasmuss@aol.com.

(My grandparents were May Mailman and Spurgeon Rodenhiser of Lunenburg County Nova Scotia. But- I"m interested in anyone with this surname, not just my immediate family.)
Looking for information on the family of Louis (hebrew name Leibisch) Mailman. He came to America from the Ukraine, probably Chotin or Zhvanetz, in 1904. He was married to Jennie (hebrew name Sheindel) Mailman (maiden name Zipperman ) and settled in Minneapolis first, and then LosAngeles. I have found lots of information on the Zipperman's, but I would love to find more about the original family name of the Mailman's. I am trying to locate other family members on the Ellis Island ship manifests. Thank you.

Correction on John BEAM data

John Merz kindly supplied the following info on John BEAM's background...
In the matter of Mehlmann/Mailman marriage to Catherine Boehm/Beam, daughter of John Boehm/Beam, who has been
identified as a Hessian soldier who settled at the Hammond River in New Brunswick, Canada in 1783.
Let me assure you, he was not from Sweden, but his place of
birth in the military files shows Langencandel in Alsace-Lorraine, close to the Palatine area. Date of birth is given as 1748/49. (HETRINA II) He was discharged from the Hesse-Kassel Regt. v.Donop in Oct. 1783 in New York. Trusting that this will help to clarify his status. More on my webpage
www.cgo.wave.ca/~hessian,
Good luck with your research,
John Merz
