Early Maker history

I've been looking into the family history. Our branch is presently in New York State. I've been only able to trace back to my 4th great grandfather, David Maker thru census records. David's son was named Archelaus and was born in Yates County in 1818. Other this I've not been able to trace further back. I've found another Archelaus Maker in the late 18th century from Rhode Island but not sure if he's related in any way. Hopefully someone knows more about this line out there. Thanks.
