I am searching for proof that my gr.gr. Grandmother, Mary Alice (Malcom/Malcolm) Cox born @ 1824, Morgan Co., Ga. is the daughter of Ganaway Malcom/Malcolm and Rebecca Hawk. She married William P. Cox ? born @ 1805 of GA. They had the following children: Alexander (1838), John (1840), Mary A (1841), Charles (1843), Rebecca (1845), Julia (1847), Sarah (1849), Ellen Leander (1851 my gr. grand mother), Adolph (1855), & Virginia (1856). I know Mary Alice came to Texas, maybe with her husband, daughter Ellen & her two children and her daughter Virginia. I found Mary on the 1880 Caldwell Co. Tx. census living in the household of her son-in-law Nathan Womble and daughter Virginia. Also found Ellen with her two children on the 1880 Fayette Co., Tx. census with her two children, also, a J. B. Cox and wife Mary living next door to Ellen. My problem is that I can't seem to find any documented proof of who Mary Alice's parents were or even anything about her husband. I sent off to the county clerk's office and the State for my grandmother, Ellen, death certificate but it appears one was never filed. She died in 1926 in Thornton, Limestone Co., Tx. There should have been a death certificate filed. I even went and checked the records myself. If anyone knows anything about this family please email me. Thank you, Shirley Orem, Corpus Christi, TX.
