My maternal grandmother was Cora Gertrude Malcolm of Nicholas County, married an Eberly, and widowed, married Curtis Stephenson of Nicholas County. Perhaps this meager thread will help. Good luck.

Jim,

I found James Malcolm b. 1821 in the 1850 Rockingham Census, pg. 49 with his mother Susan b. 1797 and brothers William Matthew b. 1822 and Elijah Freeman b. 1823. Their name is spelled Markham in that census, however, I'm nearly positive that they are the Malcolm family you and I have been looking for. I am a descendent of William Matthew who married Elizabeth Jane Angel.

James is listed in a separate household with wife Elizabeth, children Susan C., Mary A. and John A. James and Elizabeth Page had a marriage bond issued on December 25, 1843. I would love to know what you've found on this family.

Granville C. Malcomb was my first uncle. Nearly all of Granville's brothers and sisters have pasted on with the exception of my Mother, Ruby Irene McGrail, which resides in Va.Beach Va. and an Aunt Eva, which resides in Dover, Delaware. Nora Queen is not the name of Joseph Malcombs wife, it was Minnie Mae...her bd was April 30 1888 and she died in Feb. 1964. I know that I also have a Great Grandmother by the name of Sanora Virginia Carroll....Great Grandpa which was married to her by the name of Robert Floyd Malcomb. I'm still trying to find all the people in between these people. I heard through some of my family that Joseph Malcomb worked in the Coal Mines in West Va..
