I'll keep your information in mind and let you know if I come across anything. Meanwhile, all I really have is the marriage:
"Finly (Finlay) Wellington Batty, to Elizabeth MALE. 16 Jan. 1851, Haldimand. Rev: WAIT. Wit: Benjamin Jackson, Almira Jackson, his wife and several others."
Note that in the 1881 Census the family is listed as German, which the Battys definitely were not. I'm not sure where that mistake originated, unless the Males were German.
And since the Males and Battys were one after the other on that census, they were immediate neighbours. I have assumed that Elizabeth (nee Male) Batty and Job were sister and brother because of the ages, but that's a guess.
Good luck with your research.
I'm also interested in Lakeport/Colborne area generally, so if you come across any general info about life there in the early days, 1790s to 1900, I'd be interested. Thanks!
