Surnames: Malie, Malia, Pore, Kemp, Leonard, Sullivan
I've been trying to research my grandmother's family. Her maiden name was Loretta Sullivan 1891- 1983; her siblings were Walter Daniel, Catherine Irene, and Edith. Their mother was Mary Malie (or could be Malia) 1865-1914, who married Michael Sullivan, who died in 1899. Mary Malie's siblings were Daniel, 1867 - 1932; Bertha 1873 - ?; Margaret, b.1876 - 1953; and perhaps Sadie. Their mother was Barbara Malie or Malia, born 1839 in Ireland (maiden name unknown), emigrated in 1857 to the US, died in 1904. She may have been married to Michael Malie who died in 1891. Some of the above are buried in the same plot at Calvary Cemetery in Pittsburgh, PA. The plot actually goes under the name Barbara Malia. The others who are buried there are: Daniel A. Malia, Bertha C. Pore, Michael Malia, Margaret Elizabeth Malie, Harry R. Kemp, Grace Kemp, Hazel Leonard, Martin Malie, M.J. Sullivan, and Mary Sullivan. I realize the surname Malie and Malia seemed to be used interchangably, but there are too many coincidences to not be my relatives. Does anyone have any information about anyone listed here? I have become stuck in my research and any info. would be helpful.
A note about the Daniel A Malie/Malia listed above: he was very active in politics around the turn of the century in Allegheny City, PA, which later became annexed by the city of Pittsburgh. Any inormation about him? Thanks in advance.
