WEST CHAZY — Margareta M. Maliniak, 77, of Route 22, West Chazy, died Monday, May 22, 2006, at the CVPH Medical Center.
Mrs. Maliniak was born on Dec. 22, 1928, in Babenhausen, Germany, the daughter of Ludwig and Rosa (Spahn) Tempel.
She married Walter Maliniak in 1947 in Germany.
Mrs. Maliniak was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy and a member of the altar rosary society. She enjoyed cooking, baking, travel and flower gardening and loved caring for her grandchildren. Mrs. Maliniak was lovingly cared for by Dr. Victor Castine for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Walter; six sons, Stanley Maliniak of Sedalia, Colo., Michael Maliniak and his wife Sheryl, Antoni Maliniak, all of Denver, Colo., and Marion Maliniak and his wife Lisa of Beekmantown, Walter E. Maliniak and his wife Barbara of West Chazy and Thomas Maliniak and his wife Geraldine of Plattsburgh; three daughters, Ursula Jennette and her husband Randall, Heidi Whelden and her husband Marshall and Ann Marie LeClair and her husband Ricky, all of West Chazy; one brother, Fritz Tempel of Babenhausen, Germany; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A son, John Maliniak; and her maternal grandmother, Maria Spahn, died earlier.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations, in her memory, may be made to Birthright.
