Matilda Mallow

I am trying to locate possible parents for Matilda Mallow.Matilda was born in 1804, possibly in Virginia. In 1822, she married David Hopping in Greene County OH.Matilda died in 1864 in Delaware County IN. I do have information indicating that Peter Mallow also died in Delaware County IN, and I had considered him as a potential father, but all information I have indicates Peter did not marry until 1807. Does anyone have anything regarding Matilda Mallow that might help identify who her parents may have been?

Hi Nancy, sorry about the email, correction, it is: 1gr8_mystery@comcast.net.
If you can email your address I will send you a copy of what i have on cd so you can search through and see what might help you. It is believed through my family that the native american features come from the wife of Henry Mallow who supposedly married an indian woman named Magdalline. I keep all my research on cd's so I don't lose anything. The odd complexion is olive tone. Atleast thats what I was told. My family has dark hair and eyes also with the high cheek bones. As a matter of fact my father looks very much native american and he is 67 yrs old and still has very dark hair, with very little gray, as well as his brothers. It seems that native american indian men don't gray as much as the women do. Atleast that's how it is in my family.
Will be waiting to hear from you.
Marty

I am wondering if we take after Sarah Jane Nelson Sponaugle who had a sister Roxanne Nelson Mallow ( wife of Ben Mallow).

I have some pictures of Sarah, and her high cheek bones..........

Nancy

Michael Mallow/Mary Clendenin

Hi,I wonder if you have anything on a Michael Mallow/Mary Clendenin marriage. Mary was the daughter of Robert Clendenin born 1744 Augusta County, VA who lived in Greenbrier and Kanawha Counties then moved to Bourbon County, KY and died in Fairfield Co., OH. The information I have says that Mary was born 1799 in Bourbon County and married a Michael Mallow about 1820 and then a David Meyers about 1830. An 1810 deed listing the heirs of Robert Clendenin lists Mary Mallow as an heir with no husband listed, so it seems she was a widow then. She had to have been born much earlier than 1799 to be a widow by 1810! If you have any information on this marriage, I love to know about it.
Marina

Martha,

I have some Mallow information that I found on the internet. I have a George Mallow b. ca.1816, m. Rebecca Harman on 25 Oct 1838. Their children listed are Martha A. b. ca 1840, Isaac b. ca 1842, Rebecca J. b. Mar 1842, George W. (married Sarah Reed) b. Jan 1848, Daniel B. b. Apr 1850, and Catherine? Is this helpful?

I also have two books written by Rick Toothman. In the appendixes of the books he has research tracing the Mallo(w) family back to Melchoir Mallow b. about 1600 and died at Griesbach, Alsace on November 29, 1668. His research only covers four generations, ending with Johan Michael Mallow in Pendleton VA/WV. The books of his I own are Pendleton County Probate Records and Deedbook Records.

There is another George Mallow,Sr whose wife was listed as Katherine and children listed as Reuben, Amos, Michael, George, Daniel, Sarah, and Rebecca. This George Mallow, Sr died in 1857.

If any of this is helpful, I'll dig deeper. I haven't done much research on my Mallow roots--so far I am just collecting sources of info.

Also www.usgenweb.com has some census info from Pendleton County--you might find something there.

Good luck,
Jane

It would appear we have two Robert Clendenens. My Robert died in Fairfield County, OH. A deed listing his heirs mentions one of his daughters as Mary Malllyn, late the wife of Michael Mallyn. In my early days of research I found his name listed as Michael Mallow. I think we have two families here but thanks for the reply.

I don't know what part of Germany she was from. I got what I have on her from her obituary. It says she was born in Germany on 4/24/1838 and came to America in 1856 and settled in Mayville, Wisconsin. She was married in 1857 to August Moericke and lived in Grant, Shawano County, Wisconsin. Later, they moved to Marion, WI. She died on 9/9/1908. Does any of this connect to your info?

I am looking for any family information on my grandmother. She was born in Feb of 1916 and married Jack Silvers of Guthrie, Oklahoma somewhere in 1942 to 1944. Her father was Gene, I don't remember her mothers name, but she died when she was a baby. Her aunt Beulah Weaver raised her. She had three older brothers Marion, Millard, and TC. I am not sure of the order of the boys ages. She and my grandfather had 4 girls Jackie, Willa, Mary Ann, and Roberta. I have heard that she was married once before Jack, but I have no proof. She passed away in Feb. 1998. Any info at all would be appreciated.
