Hi, Anne Marie: Sorry it took so long to reply. For some reason, I just got this notice. hmm. You and a guy named Steve both sent information about this William E being married to Emma Arthur (but they didn't mention anything about being an ancestor to your William A. Malloy, not that they weren't, just that maybe they didn't know anything before that. Do you have more information? I have a feeling that the E stood for Elbert, if he was related to our William A. Do you know when the family history for William A. starts in Texas? Your William A. could be my William A's grandson? Do you know when and where your William A married Emma Arthur? Do you know any family history about your William E.?

Beth

Hi Karen and Brian

Here is the article Molloys of Leamagowra. It mentions John and James who were probably brothers of my gggrandfather Patrick Molloy who also married a Mary Mulloy. I still have to put the magazine article about the Molloys of Montrose onto it.

Kind regards Jane

Keith,

I was wondering if you could send me a copy of your article on the Malloy/Maloy/Molloy/Mulloy families. I also have Malloys in my ancestry along with Gallaghers. One name that ran in all the children named was Frank. As well as others. One brother came to PA and then went back to Ireland but his family stayed in USA. I know in my communications with others that there were some that ended up in the midwest and I am highly interested.

I am very interested.

Here is a magazine article of the Molloys of Leamagowra,
As the people who are interested in the Molloys of Montrose.
They will see the names James and John they are the ones who emigrated from Leamagowr. My great grand father was Bernard Mulloy, I see that a Barnard was mentioned a few times, The church records were always recorded in Latin and Barnard was Latin for Bernard, so in Donegal, Ireland he would have been
know as Bernard. I came across this when I was researching and found a few Marias in my line but Maria was latin for Mary

If anybody is intereseted in tying in all the molloys lines from lemagowra, ardara, minesota, montrose I would be glad to help I have some photos of the family cottage that they would have lived in before emigrating to Montrose

Kind regards Jane

Ps There were so many different spellings because Irish catholics were denied an Eduction as part of the Penal laws.
The next generation up from John and James were luckier because they were educated in what was known as hedge schools which basically meant they were educated behind hedges in the fields while someone kept a look out for this service they had to find money to pay the teacher so they would have needed to be a little better of to find the mone

Hi robert.

I see you have seen some of the variant spellings of the surname yur researching.
I can't help with your specific couple.
my late husbands grandmother was Ellen (spelled on a variety of documents in a variety of ways.).

Her son louis Javet was born in 1855 in New Orleans and her name was Miss Molly Anative of Galway, Ireland. I laughed myself silly when I saw the original birth certificate it was a matter of a lack of punctuation. Should have been Miss Molly,
a native of Galway, Ireland.

I had thought "Anative" seemed like a strange Irish name.

On their second child'd cert her name is spelled Helene Meloy.(1857)
On the daughter's it is Ellen Malloy. (1859).

Ellen was correct. She was born in early 1830's. She was married to Hyppolite Javet.
In 1875 (sometime after she was widowed) she became a nun in San Francisco, California. The widow, Ellen Javet, became Sister Mary Magdalen in 1878 when she took her vows. She was one of the first five women to join this order which was to educate and render aid to the poor and sick.

I never have been able to determine her heritage, but do know when she died and where she is interred.

The last time her family name was used on anything I can find is when that last child was born in 1859.

I am part of this family. My paternal line goes back to the James Malloy (Molloy) you listed here. In fact, Father Michel Mulloy, rector of Immaculate Conception Chapel at Rapid City, South Dakota (http://www.rapidcitydiocese.org/Parishes/RapidCity_ICC.htm) wrote a book that focuses on the children of John MULLOY (b.1855). Once I find my copy of it I will post it on a website.

My male ancestors:
James Molloy
Patrick Molloy/Malloy (name changed to Malloy upon immigration to US)
John Malloy/Mulloy (changed his name after a family feud)
Patrick Mulloy
Charles Mulloy Sr.
Charles Mulloy Jr.
Brian Mulloy (me)

I would love to hear more about this family.

I am looking for information on my paternal great-great- grandparents, Edward and Margaret Smith. Edward's DOB is abt 1838 and he is from Ireland. I do not have a maiden name on Margaret, her DOB is abt 1843 and I have her last residence as Roscommon Ireland. They had 6 children and eventually settled in Pawtucket RI. I have no relatives to fill in the information on my father's side and would really like to trace this line so I can pass this on to my children.

William Malloy was b. abt 1830 in Ireland and had a son Martin b. abt 1860 in MA. It's possible that your great great grandfather was that Martin. There is also a Martin b. 1889, son of William and Ellen (Grady)Malloy. If you are in the Pittsfield area you could check at the library to see who was listed as the parents of Martin b.1878. I'd be interested to know what you find out. Thanks.

have been doing a little research agin on devery family. James Devery married Catherine Malloy and lived at Strawberry Hill in Ferbane Ireland. I think they both died about the 1850s. One of James' grandaughters remembered a visit from Cornelius Malloy who was a Queens Counsel. Major Malloy also committed suicide at Strawberry Hill. Any interest to you? Daphne Devery

My grandfather was a Martin Malloy and born Feb. 18, 1907 in Dalton Massachusetts. His father was Martin Malloy (married to Ada Loretta Tallman) born in Hinsdale Massachusetts May 30, 1878 and dies April 23 1959 and burried in Pittsfield, Ma. I am told that his father was a Martin too. I wonder if that could be the Martin you speak of b. abt 1830 Irleand?
Cindy
