Nils Akersson Malmstrom and Ingri Maria Liljevall

Searching for information on my GG grandparents: Nils Akersson Malmstrom, b. 1859, d. unknown and Ingri Maria Liljevall, b. 1858, d. about 1900. According to the Swedish census of 1890, they lived in Husie parish in Malmohus county. Nils remained in Sweden, was a blacksmith, and it is believed he may have remarried, possibly more than once. I have a photo of Ingri's parents (it says so on the back of the photo, I just don't know their names!) standing on either side of a large grave marker (about 6 feet tall) in Malmo, probably shortly after Ingri's death.

They had two children that I know of: Anna Ellida Tekla, b. 1886, still living in the early 1960s (I have letters she wrote to my G grandomother dated at this time), and Nels Edwin, b. 5 July 1891, d. 1 June 1948 in Woodstock, Illinois.

Anna married a man by the name of Ohlssen, and had four children I know of. Her husband died early, and I don't
believe she ever remarried. Anna remained in Sweden.

After Nels' mother died, he was sent to live with neighbors by the name of Andersson, and became good friends with their son, Alben, who later emigrated to the USA and lived in Woodstock, IL, where he and Nels remained best friends.

Nels came to the U.S. in 1907, and married Petra Christina Madsen on 22 February 1913 in Woodstock, IL.

Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated!!

My great grandmother was Anna Emelia Sophia Bjornkvist, maiden name of Malmstrom. This year I was trying to get a link to her past, which is in Norrkoping, Sweden. Could it be she is a relative. Anna Olivia are also in the family names.

Get the book Tracing Your Swedish Ancestry from your local Swedish Embassy. Writing to the Landsarkivet in Goteborg P. O. Box 3009, Geijersgatan 1, S-400 10 Goteborg. Did they live in Goteborg or only ship out from Goteborg? Each parish has records that tell you all about where the relative was going and what their occupation was, all kinds of goodies.

Email me anytime.

Will be going back to my family in Sweden in five weeks. Trying to find her family, but will be staying with my father's side in Kristdala, Sweden. Presently I am on the Internet with a relative who is also a member of the Malmstrom family. Since the date of my grandmother's birth is 10/26/1856, maybe we will find some link.

There is a church in Norkoping, at the moment can't remember but it contains much info on the family. Will get back to it someday. Wonder if there is a relationship because she named her daughter Elsa Elizabeth and I keep in touch with those relatives in Stockholm. My last visit was in April 2000. Anna married and later had the name of Bjornkvist.

Will write again. Give me your email address.

JOSEPHINE MARIE MALMSTROM

This is my great grandmother born in Domkyrko Parish, Goteborg, Sweden, on 12/10/1864. She came to the U.S. with her mother, Maria Christina Rosenberg Malmstrom, and her sister, Anna Olivia Malmstrom, in 1873. At that time, Josephine's father had already passed away. They went back to Sweden (date unknown). Maria Christina married Olaf Lagerbeck and this family, the Lagerbecks, came to the U.S. in 1878. My great grandmother used the name Lagerbeck thereafter. The family lived in Brooklyn, New York.

I would like to get information on their departure from the U.S. back to Sweden. I would also like to locate any Lagerbeck family member.

Bernice
My wife's grandmother emigrated to theUS around the turn of the century. She was sponsored by another Malmstrom so did go thru Ellis Island. She was born 14 March 1883. So there may be a connection.
Sorry my keyboard is sticking!
My e-mail is SSjkeer@cs.com
