William Maner 1794 or 1795

I am looking for a connection that William Maner born in South Carolina in 1794 or 1795 that he is the father of Gilbert Jefferson Maner and that his wife is Sarah Lowery. I would also like to find the father of William Maner, one family tree has the father of William being William Maner and that his mother is Jane Aseneth May. I would like to verify that. I talked to people in South Carolina and they do not have Willaim (1795) going to Tenn and marrying Sarah Lowery.

Hosea's son Joseph L. Maner was born 12 JAN 1827 in DeKalb County, Georgia and died 24 OCT 1875 in Carroll County, Georgia. According to my notes Joseph had 11 children by two different wives.

Henry's mother was Mary Ann Davis.
G.J. Maner and Mary Ann Davis were married in Ozark Co. MO. 24 Jan 1872.
Mary Ann Davis was born in Ozark Co. MO.
Their first child was John William Maner, Henry J. was their second. Henry J. was born 29th Nov. 1873 in Ozark Co. MO

Henry J. Maner is my Grandfather. Do you have any information about his mother who died at his birth. My understanding is that she was Cherokee Indian.

Any records of birth for him. (I was a little girl and went to the hospital with my mother, Myrtle Maner-Bailey, where he died.

on my birth information it said his father( my grandfather) had worked for the railroad, he had one brother, and I think they were from Indiana. Also it said he had been in the service but my birth mom didn't know any of this information, she just said he was about 5'11 brown wavey hair and hazel eyes.

Donna, I no that a lot of the Maner spelling is Maness or Manis or Manes. Does the name Ray Maness ring a bell? Do U no where ur father was borned?I have some Maness folks out in ur part of the Country. Thanks for your request, I'm looking for a connection with a Bob Maner (or spelled like that) that lived in San Diego in 1958, he worked a salesman at a car dealorship. Attached are two photos of Jeff MANER's tombstone taken today at the Springtown Cemetery in rural Wagoner County, between Broken Arrow (in Tulsa Co.) and the town of Coweta (Wagoner Co).

I cannot read the inscription at the bottom, but the birth/death dates read:

Nov. 12 1845 to Mar. 4, 1905.

DNA tests are of two types -- Y-DNA and mtDNA. To do Y-DNA on John Alexander Maner's line, you would need a male descendant with an all male lineage. His son's son's son... line. So you would need a descendant of a brother of Lizzie's.

mtDNA for Lizzie and her mother Sarah "Sally" requires an all female line down to the DNA donor, who can be male. BUT there must be only women between him and Lizzie. To be really useful, you would need someone to compare the mtDNA to. For example if you thought you knew Sarah's family, test mtDNA for a documented daughter of theirs and compare it. Difference would rule them out, but a match won't necessarily confirm they are her parents,as mtDNA changes slowly.

I don't personally have any information on your family of Maners, but someone in the Project might. Email me at AWNRDC@aol.com, and I will put you on the Project's Newsletter mailing list (free). I can also send you an archive (partial) of the past issues of the Newsletter. There might be something in the research notes of value to you there.

I am descended from Rachel Elizabeth "Lizzie" Maner. Her father was John Alexander Maner b 12 Aug 1847 in TN d 29 Aug 1929 in Cherokee Co., OK. According to records he was half Cherokee, his mother's name was Sarah "Sally" Lowery, but I can't find much info on her except that she m James Henry Lowery. I am very interested in the DNA tests and any info that may be out there about my family.

WWII Veteran Roy Maner

I am searching for a veteran of WWII, Roy Maner, who served in the 561st Field Artillery Battalion. He would have been born between 1906 and 1925. I've checked the World War II Memorial Registry, and gathered all the data I can from the Social Security Death Index and the 1930 Census. Unfortunately, both the SSDI and 1930 Census do not give me anything on military service for WWII.

I am posting messages to hopefully get some info directly from veterans or their family. I will be pursuing getting data from the Army Records Center in St. Louis. Maybe the combination of sources will work for me.

The 561st FA Bn has an informal association, and an annual reunion; thus this work to find WWII veterans of the unit.

I am trying to locate someone familiar with this Maner/Manis line. Peter was listed as 85 in 1850, his wife Tabitha 75. They lived next door to Pleasant (35) and his wife Mary (40) in District 16, Hawkins Co., TN. The neighbor on the other side of Peter was Nancy Parker who I believe may be related to these Maner/Manis families...Nancy's youngest daughter, Eliza, was living with Pleasant & Mary in 1860 (District 4), while Nancy was living with an older daughter.

Laura Maner's father was William Johonan. William's father was Argroes Johonan.

I am the granddaughter of Mary Elizabeth Johonan Spaid. My mother left a dairy with the name of her Grandfather, Grandmother (William Johonan and Mary Elizabeth Baker) . She also listed William's brothers as Thomas and Sidney. Argroes owned a mirchantile store, when he died the oldest son inherited the store. William and older brother did not get along and so William at age of 11 left home and went to Montreal, Canada before he migrated to Missouri.
