Manley Raymond E. Manley, 81, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2013 in the Springfield Regional Medical Center.
He was born on September 21, 1931 in Gallipolis, Ohio (Gallia County) the son of Ray and Carrie (Van Sickle) Manley.
Ray was a graduate of Gallia Academy High School in Gallipolis, class of 1949.
He retired in December 1994 from Ameritech after thirty-nine years of service.
He served our country in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Ray was a member of a number of organizations including: the St. Andrews Lodge F. & A. M. ____, Scottish Rite, Antioch Shrine, Clark County and Champaign County Shrine Clubs, Fraternal Order of Eagles 397 Aerie, V.F.W. Post 1031, and the DAV.
He was also a member of the Northside Church of God.
Ray is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Veester "Vee" Manley whom he married in 1974; son, Gerald Manley and Robin Foulke of Urbana; step daughter, Tamera Chih and her husband, Les of Worthington; stepson, Robert Mowery of Springfield; step grandchildren, Alexander and Matthew Chih of Worthington, and Chloe Mowery of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with Masonic services beginning at 7:30 p.m. that evening.
Service will be held on Saturday, at 10:30 a.m. in the Northside Church of God, 3705 Middle Urbana Rd., Springfield,OH.
Burial will follow at the Ferncliff Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital or V.F.W. Post 1031, Springfield, Ohio .
