Hi Kathy,

I have several: Francis Manley, Francis Munley, Francis Munnelly. You should look for "Frank" Manley/Munley/Munnelly too as Frank is frequently used instead of Francis.

The closest I can come to your 1854 birth date is my g-grandfather b 1862 in mayo and immigrated here as a small child. The family lived in the Giradrville area in Schuylkill County, and then moved to Archbald, near Scranton.

Warm regards,

Marianne Manley Granoff
Albuquerque, NM
granoff@zianet.com
I am looking for anyone who has a Francis Munnelly/Munley/Manley in their family. My gggrandfather Patrick Munnelly named his first son Francis, and according to Irish naming patterns, Francis would be the name of Patrick's father. In all my years of researching this line, I can't recall seeing another Francis Munnelly. Patrick lived in PA, his wife was Irish, and Francis was born 1854 - might they have broke with tradition at that time? Any info is appreciated !
Kathy

There were apparently more children than the ones you mention. Does this look like what your looking for?
My gggg grandfather is David Manley. His brother, Levi Manley, married Malinda Nickens on April 1, 1829 in Wilson County, TN. Based on the records I have, Malinda Nickens is the daughter of Francis and William Nickens. So, does this make us cousins-in-law?

Years ago when I first started my family research, there was a Nickens researcher who had created a freepages site. I think her name was Jan, and I think she may have worked at a college in Colorado.

I know the Manley/Nickens/Collins families intermarried. They lived in NC and TN, and some moved to southern IL. Here are the Nickens I have in my tree:

Francis "Franky" Nickens m. Joseph Manley
James Nickens m. Mary Ann Ellen Collins
Leanna Nickens m. William Collins
Malinda Nickens m. Levi Manley
Mary Nickens m. Thomas Barnes
William Nickens m. Francis ?

I think Franky's mother was related to the Scotts.

Dawnna
dawnna215@gmail.com

It would appear that your family and my husband's family were related. My husband's great grandfather, Anthony Manley, was born in Ballina, Ireland July 21, 1864 according to his naturalization record. He came to the US at age 17 and settle in the Duryea/Avoca, PA area. Some of his children were born in Duryea and some in Avoca. His last child, Anthony, as born in Avoca in 1907. His son, Joseph, also born in Avoca, married Margaret Moran of Pittston, and they lived out their lives in her parents' home. Joseph and Margaret were my husband's grandparents.
Ellen Carr Heatley can be found in the 1881 British Census as a widow and mother of Thomas b. 1855 and William Heatley b. 1859, both in Ireland. William Heatley is my maternal great ggrandfather who traveled to America and lived his entire life from 1881 to 1937 in Passaic, NJ, USA.

Eola Manley

I am trying to find out some information about my great grandmother, Eola Manley. She was born around 1869, I believe. I think she was born in Iowa. I have no idea who her parents were or if she had any brothers or sisters. I did find an Iowa State Census of 1885 and it stated that she was 16 years old and lived in Buena Vista, Storm Lake, Iowa. She was listed as a granddaughter to Ambrose Hall Burdick and Charlotte Houston. That is all I can find other than my grandmother's birth certifcate that says Eola Burdick is her mother. Eola was married to Andrew Montgomery Manley from Erie, Pennsylvania. I found a United Stated Federal Census of 1900 and it showed Andrew Manley as a widowed. He was living in Kootenai, Idaho at that time with a family with the last name of Brown. I think it is the correct person as the dates all matched. I did see where Andrew's father had my grandmother, Martha E. Manley, with his and his wife's name. Can anyone help me track this down?

I am looking for relatives of Ethel Eastwood from Oldham, daughter of William and Alice Eastwood. She married my great-uncle, Harry Manley and emigrated to Canada around 1912.

I would dearly like to know what became of her and Harry. I do not think they had any children.

They lived in Cuyahoga, Detroit and Albany, New York.

I think she died before 1951.

Thank you

Your Margaret Manley is older than any that I know about. She would have been born about the same time as James and Michael Manley (brothers - I'm descended from James (b. 1802 in Ireland). So I can't help you with your search. She may be a relative but I have nothing to connect her. I don't know who the parents of James and Michael were.
