I am looking for more information on William E. MANDLEY(also spelled MANDLY, MANLEY, and MANLY) who born about 1839 in Alabama. He may have been the same William E. MANDLEY (various spellings again) who served as a 2nd Lt with the 27th Regiment, Alabama Infantry, Company D, during the Civil War.
In 1880, W. E. MANLEY (he'd dropped the 'd' at this point) was living in Florence, Alabama and working as a watchman at a mill because he'd lost an arm during the war. His parents birthplaces are both listed as Virginia.
He married Zane (also Zona and Jane) CRUNK, and they had 5 children, John (b. 1869), Mark (b. 1874), Minnie (b. 1877), Maud (b. 1879), and Margaret (1884-1946).
Any help tracking down information about the MANDLEY/MANLEY family, greatly appreciated.
