I am researching my wife's PARKS ancestors, who lived in Louisville, KY through most of the 19th Century. She is descended from Andrew Reid MCKNIGHT who m. Sarah Lavenia PARKS in 1857, dau. of Lyman PARKS who m. Eliza Jane LEWIS in 1839. A sibling of Sarah's, Lyman Lewis PARKS, m. Lizzie Pratt MANLY; their first child was Basil Manly PARKS.
Among family papers I have found a letter, dated 12 May 1888, supposedly from B. Manly PARKS in Louisville, announcing his own birth [ten days earlier] to Trajetta and Clara HAILEY, two preschool cousins living in Tuscola, IL [Clara was my wife's grandmother]. The letter mentions relatives who had already visited B. Manly in Louisville: Aunt Sallie, Uncle Clarence, Aunt Lottie, Grandma PARKS, and Grandpa & Grandma MANLY; and others who will visit/be visited later: Great Grandma PARKS, and Aunt Pinkie [or Pinkus?].
Does anybody out there know these people? I am especially interested in Great Grandma PARKS, but knowing the rest would be a help in research. I have this letter scanned and would be happy to share it via email.
