David A. Manor & Jane Sherrard are my great(x3) grandparents through their daughter Martha Ann Manor who married Charles Havling. If anyone has some old photographs and/or documents they could scan for me, I would greatly appreciate it and would be more than willing to pay for costs.

My name is Jerri Ann Jones. I read your post about Eligah Herman Manor. I have been doing the family tree of my husband. His great grandmother is Melissa Jane Manor. One of my husbands great aunts gave me this information. Melissa Janes brothers were Eligah, called Ligh. Alonzo, Hoza and Corbin T. A Sister was Narcissa. Their ancestors came from Ireland. Rachel Elizabeth (Mom) maiden name was Armond. The Manors were considered to be wealthy farmers. Alonza, Hoza, Corbin were bachelors. Alonzo married late in life to Lighs widow, they had one child, a girl. Most of the Manors live in Webster county Mo. near Seymour. Ligh had three children, Luella (a nurse), Hulta, and Herman. I dont know how factual all of this info is. I have found most so far to be true. My husbands aunt was very old at the time she wrote this info down. Hope this helps!!!

Because probably we have our own cemetery in Indiana I believe. You might want to try near there and also I believe it is in Wabash, not sure. I have to ask my dad. He is the son of Alfred Manor from that area. I know we have cousins in Illinois.

COLUMBIA BASIN HERALD, MOSES LAKE, WASHINGTON STATE

Ruth Ann Manor, age 101, a longtime Moses Lake resident passed away Sunday, May 18, 2008, at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Ruth was born in Burt, Iowa, the daughter of Earnest and Bertha Schwietert.

She had five siblings: Merle, Erwin, Lester, Ada and Williard. All preceded her in death.

She married the true love of her life Paul J. Manor May 21, 1927. Paul also preceded her in death. Early on in her life Ruth was a school teacher. She and her husband Paul also owned and operated the Moses Lake Cab Company for a number of years. She had been actively involved in the Methodist Church and The Moses Lake Woman's Club. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.

Ruth is survived by her children, Janet Latting and Paul E. Manor; grandchildren, Tammy Strong, Pat Latting, Paul V. Manor. Cally Grieb, Carrie Manor and Troy Lynn Goldberry; great-grandchildren, Heather Cranford, Brady Manor, Tate Manor, BreAnne Galloway, Janelle Galloway, Mathew Grieb, and JC Grieb.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at Kayser's Chapel of Memories with Pastor Floyd Wilks officiating. Interment will follow in Pioneer Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel and Crematory, Moses Lake.

Viewing will take place at the funeral home on Friday, May 23 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. You may sign the guest book or leave a note for the family at www.kayserschapel.com.

In the 1850 Ohio Federal census shows Minerva Manor with four children, June, William, Alexander P. and Mary C. This family is living with a farmer William Richardson. I believe Alexander P. is my family. He fought in the Civil War, married Louise Delano in 1871, Alex and Louise are buried in Illinois. Would appreciate any help. Thank you

Faye Spencer Manor was daughter of Lewis Spencer and Nora Spencer. Lewis died 1961 and Nora preceeded him. Faye died in 1965. All died in Xenia and are buried in The Woodlawn Cemetary. Faye married Everett Manor in Xenia and had 3 children-Jack Spencer, Ruby and Robert. Faye and her mother and father came from Bowersville area.

I have recently come across one page of a divorce settlement from Feb. 29, 1916. The parties are referred to as Mr. and Mrs. Manor. The only name mentioned is that of the child Constance. The divorce proceedings took place in Oakland, CA. If anyone has any information, I would love to know why my grandmother Lila Oates held onto this paper.

Chateaugay — Dale William Manor, 43, of West Main Street, Chateaugay, died Sept. 9, 2002, at Alice Hyde Medical Center, Malone, N.Y.

He was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., on June 5, 1959, the son of Eldmour and Gladys (Mesick) Manor.

He was married to Elaine Thibeault on July 19, 1986, in Ellenburg. She survives.

Mr. Manor is survived by his wife of 16 years; his parents, Eldmour and Gladys Manor of Mooers Forks; a son, Jesse Manor of Chateaugay, N.Y.; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Alan Manor of Mooers Forks, N.Y., William and Julie Manor of Mooers Forks, N.Y., and Allen Calhoun of Mooers Forks, N.Y.; a nephew, Austin Manor of Mooers Forks, N.Y.; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William and Leona Manor; and his maternal grandparents, William and Anita Mesick.

Mr. Manor graduated from Northeastern Clinton School. He the U.S. Army in 1982 and was honorably discharged in 1986, was a past member of the Moose Lodge.

He loved to hunt and fish.

Calling hours will be held at the Chateaugay Funeral Home Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, in St Patrick’s Church, with Rev. Ray Moreau officiating. Burial will take place at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Mooers Forks.

PLATTSBURGH — Virginia M. Manor, 91, of Durand Street, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Beekmantown on May 14, 1911, the daughter of the late Amos and Josephine (Smart) Manor.

Virginia loved flower gardening. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church, Catholic Daughters of Americas Court Mary Immaculate Chapter #479, and Clinton County Senior Citizens.

She is survived by five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Leona O’Connell of Cadyville, Beatrice Brown of Cadyville, Hazel Manor of East Haven, Conn., Selma and Harmon Fordham of Newburyport, Mass., Ruth and Edward Swasey of Chandler, Ariz., several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

She is predeceased by her brother, Raymond Manor.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5 at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6 from St. Peter’s Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Dannemora.

In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice or Masses.

Wish I could help you but all I have is that Laura Manor b abt 1900 in IA marr William Boyd. They had a son Heesch Oliver Boyd b abt 1927 in IA marr Ethel Mae Young 12 Feb 1947 in Caroline Co Va. Ethel May was the dau of Thomas Young & Maude Gray. Ethel had a sister Eula b abt 1913 who marr Isadore Reynolds 19 Oct 1935 also in Caroline Co. My connection is with the Gray, Young & Reynolds families in Caroline which I am researching. Just had the info on Laura in my files.

I am looking for the index to the book OUR FAMILY CIRCLE. Does anyone have one ? I have found an updated version of OUR FAMILY CIRCLE on fiche at the Salt Lake Family History Library but no index....may have to make one. Also have found a very well documented book entitled GENTLEFOLK , The Ancestry of David Huff Maner and Mary Katherine Maner by Alfred Withers Maner. The author was born in 1917 and was still alive in 2000. Documents nine (9) generations.

I HAVE A LETTER FOUND IN A BOOK PURCHASED AT YARD SALE ADDRESSED TO AND H.L. MANOR FROM THADDEUS MANOR DATER 4-4-42. IT WAS WRITTEN TO HIS MOTHER, ALSO HAD NAME OF AUNT ANNIE AND UNCLE JOHNNIE. THIS WAS APPARENTLY WRITTEN JUST BEFORE HE LEFT FOR JAPAN. THERE WAS ALSO A PICTURE OF A LORRI AND JULINE DATED 1976 WITH THE LETTER. AM TRYING TO FIND RELATTIVES TO SEND THIS LETTER AND PICTURE TO.
