NICHOLS, Iowa - Bryan E. Mapel, 77, of Nichols, formerly of Buffalo, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Buffalo. Memorials may be made to Genesis VNA Hospice or the family.
Mr. Mapel was born Nov. 6, 1930, in Mercer, Mo., the son of George W. and Della Ann (Bryan) Mapel.
He married Beverly Teel on Jan. 17, 1959, in Rock Island.
He was employed at Oscar Mayer for over 28 years, retiring in June 1980.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and being outdoors at his cabin on the Cedar River. He loved spending time with this friends and family, especially sharing his knowledge of the outdoors with his grandsons.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Melissa Mapel and Melody (Mike) Walker of Buffalo; two sons, Robert (Tracey) Mapel of Nichols and Daniel (Neide) Leonard of Belton, Texas; 14 grandchildren, Denny, Deanna, Deanon, Aaron, Daniel A., Rachel, Daniel B., Brad, Lindsay, Bryan, Mick, Travis, Tori and Joey; nine great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Dennis Wood of Dallas, Texas; and a special friend, Sally Rodriguez of Buffalo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Bernice Johnson; a daughter, Patricia Grace Wood; two grandchildren, Summer and Robert John; and a great-granddaughter, Megghan.
