John Maphet d. 1791, Martic, Lancaster, PA

Looking for info on ancestry of John Maphet, who lived in Lancaster County, PA in the late 1700s. Would also like info on his wife.
John Maphet (aka Maffett) served in Capt. John Patton's company of the Lancaster County militia in 1781. In 1791, he died, naming in his will his wife Eleanor, children Jenny, Martha, Josiah, Mary. Josiah m. Mary Patton, d. of John Patton, and moved to Phelps, Ontario, New York. Mary Maffett (my line) m. Cunningham Patton, s. of John Patton, and remained in Martic until her death in 1869.
Willing to share my info. Anyone know this line?

Timothy Maphet and Mary Huling

I research the Huling family in PA/VA/KY/GA etc. I amd descended from the Marcus Hulings line.
I am trying to find some information on Timothy and Mary. Did they have any children other than John Timothy?
Do you know when she died and when he remarried Lydia Castor.

Mary Ann Cox, born 1825 Ohio married 1843 to John Coddington in Springfield TWP.

Andrew Cox, born 1828 Ohio married 1854 to Margaret Maphet Ohio.

Rebecca Ann Cox, born 1826 married 17 June 1850 Cincinnati.

Mary Ann Clarkson, born 1830 married 14 jan 1849 to James Ashman, Cincinnati.

I am a maphet and live in the northern kentucky area.
emmett maphet was my grandfather his parents albert and lena maphet.

I have had company for the past 2 months and not able to do much on the family history. Everyone has now gone home and I am finally going to start again. Please send me your email address so I can send some info. and photos I have. I am happy to meet a decendant of Timothy's. Most of the people I have spoken to are decendants of Timothy's brother Charles.

Hello! Great to hear from you! I am a decendant of Timothy
Maphet's from his second marriage to Lydia Castor. I am typing up a document this week with the information that I have, and will send it to you when I am finished. It appears that you have done a lot of work on the lineage that Bill Bailey has pulled together. Thank you for your work, it was fascinating to see that our puzzle pieces were fitting together when I looked it over.

Thank you so much for your beautiful work! I have been working on some of this history for a long time now. It is nice to see it all connecting. I have information to add to the lineage. My grandfather Donald Stuart Maphet had 3 children, one of which was my mother Margie Ann. Donald was the son of Timothy Clark Maphet, who was the son of Timothy Melton Maphet. I have some old photos of Timothy Melton and his family. Please contact me if you are still interested in the information I have to add to the lineage, or let me know how I can do that.

Just found this site! I have been researching Maphets in Cincinnati and Northern KY for a year now. My mother was Margie Maphet, daughter of Donald and Katherine Maphet.
I have more information that I can fill in spaces for this branch. My brother, cousins and I would love to meet with other Maphets in the area.

The 1830-1930 censuses were used along with two Maphet cousins to reconstruct this lineage. Although I am not directly related to the Maphets, however, my best friend Mike Shaw was a Maphet. This file is in memory of Mike and his mother Almeda (Shaw) Maphet.

I've just now read your message referring to Sanderson Maphet and Alice Munger. Sanderson was the name of a brother of my husband's grandfather. Their father, John robert Maphet's mother was called "Grandma True" and their mother was Alice C. Munger. Our family legend is that "Grandma True" was Indian, but no other information on that. About all I have is: John Robert DOB: 09/19.1841 in Kentucky. Death date: 02/22/1920 and was a Cpl in Company D 9th regiment, Kansas Calvary Volunteers. Burial in Turon, KS cemetery.
Alice C. Munger Maphet DOB: 01/28/1850 and died 08/02/1901 also buried in Turon, KS. Do we have a fit? Please advise. I am a computer illiterate, so make is pretty simple for me. Thanks, Rosalee Eells

Della: I have a story, typed, unsigned, undated, that relates the story of John Robert, son of Dr. John Moffet in Ireland, who came to America and changed his name to Maphet, and moved to Philadelphia where he met and married Elizabeth Penn. To this union, several children were born, the oldest being John Robert, who was born in Ky, moved to Indiana and then to Missouri, near Milan. Two brothers of John Robert were killed in the Civil War and his remaining brother was, Charley T.(possibly Charles) Maphet. He had 7 sons, one of them being John Arthur Maphet, who lived in Rio Grande Valley, TX. A postscript added shows he died in 1942. There are mentions of Nettie Shepherd and Ethel Maphet, Maphet is the family name of my mother-in-law, Lillian Emma Maphet Eells, age 95. Her father was Charles Luther Maphet, Gate, OK., son of John Robert & Alice C. Munger Maphet. I've contacted Jan West and it appears we may have a 3-way fit. Can you confirm? Let me hear from you.
