I have established that my paternal grandfather John Francois Marais was commonly known as "Jack" Marais. He was born in 1910 and died on 1 April 1941 while serving as a Lieutenant in the 1st Squadron of the SAAF during WWII. His father was Jacob and his mother Nellie Marais and they may have lived in Queenstown. Jack may also have had a brother, Douglas.
